Extended Summary
Hunter admits he hid the DNA results from Zac because he wanted to pretend it wasn’t true. Zac lets go of his anger and consoles Hunter. Zac wonders if Charlotte knew about Hunter’s paternity and lied to them both, but they’ll never know. Zac reiterates he still loves Hunter, he will never lose him. Hunter doesn’t want Zac to stick around just for him though, Zac’s miserable. Olivia tries to assuage a distraught Hunter’s guilt. He can’t believe he’s messed up his chance at having a father. After some drinks, Zac loses it inside his caravan, only prevented from destroying the joint by Nate who overhears his yelling. Once he’s calmed, Zac admits the DNA test changes things. Hunter’s real dad is out there and probably doesn’t even know. Zac wonders how his life has gone so wrong – he’s lost his wife, son and family.
Leah arrives first for the meeting with the divorce lawyers and Zac. She just wants to get the meeting over with. Zac doesn’t show up – he’s in his van Skyping with Evie about Hunter’s paternity news. Leah tries calling him but he’s too involved in unloading to Evie to notice his phone is ringing. Leah can’t believe he won’t even pick up. She doesn’t want to delay this any longer and signs the divorce papers. It’s done. Meanwhile Zac tells Evie the Bay doesn’t feel like home anymore. Evie suggests he move to Vietnam to live with her and Matt.
Later, Zac tells Hunter he’s thinking of moving to Vietnam. He doesn’t know how long it would be for and feels bad that he’d be leaving Hunter, but Hunter encourages him to go, make himself happy. Leah storms into the conversation, furious Zac missed the meeting. She doesn’t care about his explanation, she throws the papers down for him to sign. She wants to be done with him for good. Nail in the coffin – Zac may as well go to Vietnam now. In the morning, Zac asks Alf, VJ and Nate to keep an eye on Hunter when he’s gone. He doesn’t let on that Leah has no idea he’s leaving. Zac signs the divorce agreement and leaves a letter to Leah on top of it in his van. At the diner, Marilyn thinks Leah should give Zac a chance to explain why he missed the meeting yesterday. But Leah doesn’t care anymore. She’s over it all. It’s time for them both to move on with their lives. Unknown to her, Zac finishes packing the car and Hunter begins the drive to the airport to see him off.
Justin watches on as Alf tells off Scarlett for spearfishing near the pier. When she explains she’s new in the Bay, Alf suggests a spot 20 mins away – but she’ll need a boat. At the diner, Justin lets Scarlett know she’s put a local hero offside – Alf. Scarlett fobs him off, but Justin thinks she should be with Brody. She reassures, he’s okay and he’s with Mason. Maybe Justin should go see him for himself. Marilyn informs Scarlett she can hire a boat from the lovely man who runs the Bait Shop. Scarlett makes her way to the pier and quickly realises the lovely man is Alf, the hero she annoyed earlier. He’s cold at first but lets her know she can hire a boat; she’ll need to find someone to repair the engine though. He sends her to the best mechanic around… Justin, who isn’t keen on playing nice at all. He’s not keen on leaving the garage to fix the boat at the pier and Tori watches bemused as Scarlett decides to take her business elsewhere. Tori chides Justin for being harsh with Scarlett and suggests he fix the boat to make amends. In the morning, Alf finds Scarlett on the boat. She badmouths Justin to Alf, just as Justin walks up ready to fix the engine. Scarlett will fix the engine herself, she doesn’t need Justin’s help, but he insists.
Tori welcomes Nate home after his trip and is surprised he’s been to the city. He admits CareFlight offered him another job, but he turned it down because the job was in Sydney. There wasn’t any point telling Tori because he’s waiting for a job offer closer to home. Tori thinks he should have told her about it so they could have considered all their options. Nate offers to spend the day together but Tori says she’s got a lot to do. In the morning, Tori’s annoyed when Nate won’t share what Zac’s going through, thinking it’s just another case of Nate not talking to her. Nate doesn’t understand, he turned down the CareFlight job because he wanted to stay close to Tori. They argue and Tori ends up apologising to close off the argument, but this is obviously going to be an issue between them. Tori offers to spend time together but Nate gets a text from Zac, who isn’t in a good way. He leaves Tori alone.
