Zac attempts to reconcile with Leah. Olivia snoops on Hunter’s DNA test results. A stressed out Leah makes a drastic business decision. Alf finds out the Mayvers’ contract may not be legally binding for Roo.

Extended Summary

Alf relays his conversation with Morag to Roo, who doesn’t think the contract is legally binding much to Roo’s relief. Roo asks Leah how things are going with Zac and Leah admits he’s rung a couple of times. Their conversation is interrupted by Zac ringing, which Leah ignores again. Zac finishes up his message to Leah, frustrated as she’s been avoiding his calls. Hunter can see that his dad is under pressure and worries it’s about the DNA test. Zac assures him it isn’t and tells him that he understands why Hunter did the test, feeling as though Zac was going to bail on him. He insists that’s not the case and he’s happy he didn’t look at the results. Hunter is overwhelmed with guilt.

John is rehanging a door at Irene’s whilst the other occupants try to deal with the noise and mess he’s making. When John finds the DNA envelope Olivia becomes suspicious thinking he’d thrown it out. Hunter tries to cover, but eventually admits he opened the letter and the results were positive. Olivia can see he’s acting cagey and her suspicions grow. She asks to see the results and Hunter goes upstairs to get them. She moves to follow but he stops her; his strange behaviour only increases Olivia’s suspicions. Unable to dismiss Hunter’s odd behaviour Olivia searches for Hunter’s DNA results. But Hunter comes down carrying them, and they confirm that Zac is Hunter’s biological father. Olivia is apologetic, and offers to shout Hunter a juice.

Leah bumps into Zac at the Diner, much to her chagrin as she’s not interested in talking. Zac insists he just wants to clear the air but Leah states there’s nothing to talk about. Zac is stung by her dismissiveness and accuses her of using him for sex. He leaves angrily, something Irene notices and offers her support to Leah, who fills her in on what’s happened between her and Zac. Meanwhile, Zac and Nate talk about Zac’s troubles with Leah. Zac is starting to feel as if a reconciliation is hopeless. Nate feels solidarity in the similarity of Zac’s situation with his and Ricky’s. Nate states that it’s been going on for too long, and suggests Zac do something about it.
Leah and Zac cross paths again. Leah attempts to apologise but is cut off by a dismissive Zac who no longer wants to talk. Leah is confused by this until Zac asserts that it’s pointless, she’d only string him along. Leah is hurt but finds there is an element of truth in what he’s saying. Zac suggests they move on and let the lawyers sort it out. Both Zac and Leah argue over Zac’s infidelity again, as Zac accuses her of stuffing him around. Their argument becomes heated and ends in Irene breaking up the argument and leading Leah away. Having witnessed the fight, Hunter and Zac discuss the earlier argument. Zac now knows that it’s really over between him and Leah and vows to try harder and do better for his son. Zac’s consideration of Hunter does little to assuage Hunter’s guilt.

Not convinced that Hunter was being honest about the test results, Olivia searches her and Hunter’s bedroom for the test results. She finds a scan of the original document on the computer and sees that the results are actually negative. Distracted Olivia doesn’t notice Hunter has walked in. Olivia questions why he lied and doctored the document. Hunter explains that he didn’t want the results to be true, that he wanted Zac to be his dad. He berates himself for doing the test in the first place knowing that it’d kill Zac to find out. Olivia tries to comfort Hunter and asks him if he’s going to tell Zac. Hunter says he won’t, a decision Olivia agrees with much to Hunter’s surprise.

Leah is venting to Irene about her life, upset at the way everything has turned out. Irene offers a supportive ear, ensuring her that they’ll both get through this fine. Leah realizes how much she’s missed having her friend. Irene tells Roo about the fight between Leah and Zac. Leah overhears at an unfortunate moment and thinks Irene is slagging her off. She storms off not allowing Irene to explain. Irene finds Leah and tries to apologise but Leah cuts her off. She insists she’s not mad at Irene. She’s sick of fighting with everyone. She needs to make decisions; she wants to sell her share of the Diner.
