Olivia is visiting Marilyn and both discuss Billie’s death. When Marilyn hears that the Diner isn’t open she moves to help out, but both John and Olivia think it’s too soon. Marilyn concedes but Olivia realises she can help instead. She enlists the help of Matt and Evelyn, and Scott quickly offers a hand as all four open the Diner. Alf swings by, impressed by their kindness and orders food. Evelyn is concerned with how VJ, Leah and Zac are coping, and suggests to Matt that maybe they should put off their trip. Having overheard Alf tells them that if they wait for the “right time” they’ll end up waiting forever. Both Matt and Evelyn discuss what Alf’s said and decide to go ahead with Greece. An old piece of mail is discovered that may throw a spanner in the works as Evelyn reads a letter accepting her for a one year teaching scholarship in Vietnam. She hides the letter.
Olivia, meanwhile, has Hunter helping her out in kitchen. After a batch of burned muffins, the pair find themselves bonding again. Evelyn has a quiet word with Hunter, she suspects that maybe Hunter is struggling to be around Olivia, knowing that he still cares about her. Hunter dismisses it, certain that he can keep himself in check. At the end of the day, Olivia’s emotions regarding the loss of Billie get to her, she wishes for a less complicated time. In her grief she pulls Hunter into an intimate embrace. Sensing that this is leading to somewhere it shouldn’t, Hunter leaves Olivia alone, each confused about their feelings.
Marilyn is leaving messages for VJ over the phone. She’s feeling useless however, wishing she could do more. John suggests that she head over and share her positivity, but Marilyn can’t bring herself to leave the house yet – she’s not ready. Marilyn eventually settles on writing a heartfelt letter to help express the loss and love felt by the residents of Summer Bay.
