Extended Summary

Unimpressed by the way Hunter’s been behaving, Olivia confronts him about ignoring her. Disillusioned by recent events Hunter sees no point in getting back to anyone, as they’re all just waiting for him to stuff up. Olivia begins to protest but breaks off when they find John, semi-conscious on the ground. Hunter takes charge and tries to help John, telling Olivia to call an ambulance. Impressed by Hunter’s quick-thinking actions, Olivia commends the way he reacted and helped John. Hunter is surprised and confused by the unexpected praise. Olivia’s sending some pretty mixed signals. Marilyn’s arrival interrupts their conversation, and Olivia takes her to John. Tori takes John’s medical history but he brushes it off as stress. Tori decides to keep him in hospital overnight, much to his dismay. John thinks it’s going overboard but Tori remains firm. Marilyn enters full of worry, but John tells her it was just a little turn.

Heath runs into Bianca at the Diner and asks if she’ll have a coffee with him. But Bianca’s not interested and Heath heads out, determined not to give up. Cheryl, Heath’s mum finds her son and her arrival promises trouble. She tells him she’d come to help sort things out with Bianca. Heath warns her to stay away from Bianca, sure she’ll come around after she’s had time and space to think. Cheryl’s clearly not so sure.
Meanwhile, Bianca’s at Irene’s eyeing divorce application papers, clearly time and space is not fixing their relationship. At the diner, Cheryl enters with Heath, much to the chagrin of Irene. Cheryl clearly rubs everyone up the wrong way. She’s adamant that she knows what’s best for her son and tries to rope Irene into her argument with Heath. Not wanting to get dragged into this messy affair, Irene suggests that they leave Heath and Bianca to sort it out, much to Heath’s relief. Chastened, but unperturbed, Cheryl marches over to see Bianca and accuses her of avoiding Heath. Bianca insists that it’s between her and Heath but Cheryl dismisses this, citing her wifely duty to stick it out, for better and for worse. Fed up, Bianca tells her they are dealing with impossible difficulties and to stay out of it. Humbled, Cheryl leaves.

Brody’s surprised when Jeannie arrives for her shift at Salt, knowing that her father disapproves of their relationship. Jeannie doesn’t think her Dad needs to know about them. Brody’s pleased and suggests they celebrate, leaving Mason to close up. The next day, Brody introduces Jeannie to Tori at the Diner as his girlfriend. Tori’s amused when Jeannie reveals her doomsday preparation habits, unconvinced that Jeannie’s the right girl for Brody. Later, when Brody questions whether she likes Jeannie, Tori gives a vague answer, but when prodded by Brody she questions whether she’s not too different for Brody. Brody admits that whilst her parents habits may have rubbed off on her, she wasn’t a freak. Tori gently encourages Brody to slow things down with Jeannie and get to know her better. Brody gets defensive and storms off.

Hunter visits John in hospital, unsure whether or not he’s welcome. Marilyn exclaims that he is, especially after having saved John’s life. John apologises to him for accusing him of starting the caravan fire. Hunter tells him they should put it behind them. Marilyn’s happy with the tentative start to their reconciliation. Tori discharges John, saying he needs to alleviate some stress and to come back in if anything changes. Olivia arrives bearing a small present for John. Thrilled at his discharge John invites both Hunter and Olivia to the Diner to celebrate. Hunter and Olivia exchange uncomfortable looks but agree. At the Diner Marilyn’s concerned that it’s too much too soon for John but he dismisses her to go get them some cake. John is clearly not okay as he’s hit with another dizzy spell, but goes off to find Marilyn leaving Olivia and Hunter alone together. It’s awkward between the two of them as Hunter attempts small talk. Sensing her discomfort Hunter apologises for being a jerk, and Olivia accepts hating the way things are between them. Emboldened by Olivia’s warmth over the past day, Hunter suggests they hang out. Thrown, Olivia questions if it’s as friends, but Hunter suggests something more. Confused Olivia knocks him back. Embarrassed, Hunter leaves. Left sitting alone, Mason asks if she wants to join him for a walk. She accepts.

At Salt, Jeannie tells Brody she got the feeling that Tori didn’t like her. Brody ensures her she just takes a while to warm up to people. Brody suggests they go back to his after work and share a bottle of wine. Jeannie, very amenable to his offer leans in to kiss him, only to be confronted by her father who’s just walked in the door. After his outburst, Mr. Woods, Brody, and Jeannie speak in the store room. He is shocked that his daughter is not only seeing an outsider, but also has a job. He checks that it’s cash in hand concerned that the government will be able to track her, but Brody cuts off his paranoia, telling him to stop being crazy. He accuses him of putting far too much garbage through Jeannie’s head, much to both her and Mr Wood’s outrage. Brody argues that Jeannie’s her own person and she can decide for herself. Mr Woods concedes and leaves, followed by an indignant Jeannie. Confused, Brody is left alone in the store room. Following her, Brody doesn’t understand why she’s mad at him. Jeannie accuses him of being rude to her father, but Brody defends himself by saying her father was trying to split them up. Jeannie asserts that he was just being protective, but Brody counters with him bring nuts. Insulted that he thinks so little of the father who raised her and who she loves, she leaves. Tori asks him everything got sorted out between him and Jeannie. Brody explains that he mocked her father’s beliefs and it upset her. He concedes that maybe they are too different, but Tori tells him if she’s really that special to him, they’ll sort it all out.

Meanwhile, Heath’s mad at Cheryl for interfering. He doesn’t see how her input will help in the slightest. Cheryl tells him that she and Bianca have a special relationship, and is convinced she’s solved his problems. Wanting to apologise for his mother, Heath visits Bianca bearing flowers in apology. He assures her he didn’t have anything to do with her turning up. Bianca knows, and admits that Cheryl’s visit got her thinking. Their relationship has had its fair shares of intense highs and horrible lows, and that’s never going to change. Heath is uncertain where this is going until Bianca reveals that she’s done – she wants a divorce.
