Extended Summary

Brody and Jeannie are hiding out as an angry and overbearing father barges in threatening him as the true extent of Jeannie’s bizarre homelife is exposed, amid her father’s conspiracy theories. What is Brody into? Brody is seeking answers from Jeannie but she’s not forthcoming until she admitting the truth- her parents are doomsday preppers. How the apocalypse comes doesn’t matter, but when it does, Jeannie’s family will be prepared… or so she thinks. Most aspects of her childhood were great, until she started seeking answers. But Jeannie can’t live like that anymore, and Brody is struggling to take it all in. Later at Salt, Brody downloads to Mason his situation – He finally has a great girl, and she turns out to be insane. But Mason tells him to stop being so judgemental – everyone has weird parents, theirs included. The words are comforting to Brody so when Jeannie returns he admits he really wants to see where this is going as Jeanie plants a kiss on him and they move inside. But later that night, a knock on the Morgan’s door has Brody hoping it’s Jeannie, only to discover her dad, delivering the cold news that he is taking Jeannie away… He can’t risk losing his daughter to someone who isn’t one of them.

At the diner, Sam needs more work out of Zac’s manuscript before the publisher will accept it, and it must be done today. When a tentative Zac arrives at the hotel later that day with his latest draft, Sam is sure she’ll love it but upon return, she believes it still reads like a first draft. Nevertheless, there’s much to be proud about – handing in your first novel to a publisher is a major milestone and Sam suggests they pop some champagne. However, as Sam tops up Zac she rests her hand on his thigh and her intentions are clear. Unsure of what he might do if he stays around, Zac removes himself from the situation, leaving the hotel… However, unhappy with how he left things Zac returns to the hotel where Sam has just stepped out of the shower. He explains he doesn’t want to risk ruining their professional career with an affair. Sam assures him he won’t ruin anything, then drops her gown.

Following VJ’s bucks night, Billie seems non-plussed to find he hasn’t returned, but knowing her big brother is with him reassures her, until Ash enters nervously. At the hospital in double arm casts, a remorseful VJ, loaded on painkillers, learns of his stupidity the night before, climbing onto the Surf Club’s Polaris and diving off until everything became a blur. Right then, Ash followed by Leah and Billie come pouring into the hospital room, furious at him – how is he going to wear a suit at the wedding with those big casts. At home, Ash comes to VJ claiming it’s worse than he imagined, Billie wants to call off the wedding when VJ storms in full of apologies to Billie, only for Ash to follow behind and with great whacking thuds to VJ’s casts, demonstrate the entire thing has been a buck’s night prank. VJ is embarrassed as Leah and Billie, in on the joke, laugh it up. Ash welcomes him to the family – he’s always wanted a little brother to pick on.

As Olivia and Hunter are about to sit their final HSC exam, John lumps it on Hunter that he also has his Bronze medallion exam tomorrow. It takes Hunter by surprise as John seems equally befuddled, he was sure he had warned Hunter… Nevertheless, the pressure of exams aren’t done with Hunter yet.
