Extended Summary

Phoebe and Justin frantically search for a runaway Raffy. Justin is on very edge – unbeknownst to Phoebe, his issues with Ava are pushing his worry up a notch. He snaps at Phoebe, who assures him that they will find Raffy.

At the Diner, Matt is trying to get something out of an unresponsive Ellie. Matt talks to Roo about Evelyn, and the fact that she’s thinking about Josh again after they found a drawing of her at the dive where Josh and Andy were staying. Roo doesn’t think Matt should give up on Evelyn but he’s convinced that she’ll never get over Josh and that he should move on. He leaves, telling Ellie to get off her phone as he goes, unaware that she’s trying to contact Raffy. Justin calls Ellie but she lies, telling him that she doesn’t know where Raffy is. Roo overhears and can tell there’s something up. Roo is trying to gently get it out of her when Justin and Phoebe run up. Ellie reluctantly confesses that Raffy has gone to find Decker. Justin is going out of his mind when he finds that she hasn’t bought a bus ticket, assuming she must have hitch-hiked. He immediately decides that he’s going after her. Brody thinks he should go too, which means trying to cancel his dinner with Jeannie, but Phoebe has another idea – she can go. She goes and speaks to Billie, letting her know that she’ll be away but that she will do everything to be back in time for the wedding. Before Justin leaves, Brody gives him a quiet word of advice – tell Phoebe about Ava.

Ash checks in with Billie, who says that everything’s ready for the wedding. Ash wants to know when the bucks night is? VJ resists, saying he doesn’t want one, backed up by Billie and Leah. But VJ is tempted when Ash suggests that it will give them time to bond as future brothers-in-law. Later on, Ash brings a reluctant VJ into Salt for a beer. Upon discovering that it’s VJ’s bucks night, Mason is all in. Ash is full of jokes about what they’re going to do and VJ is worried. Matt arrives as Ash is reassuring VJ that they’re not going to do anything bad to him. Later on, the others cheer as VJ downs another drink, clearly one of many. Ash and Mason congratulate Matt on getting a girl’s number, while VJ is getting worse for wear. While the others discuss what prank to play on VJ, they don’t notice him climbing up onto the board on the top of the surf lifesaving buggy. When they realise he’s up there, they try to talk him down but he’s too drunk to listen, and jumps right off the top! The next morning, VJ wakes up in hospital. Mason’s there and he points to VJ’s arms – they’re both in casts. VJ’s horrified, how can he get married like this?!

Brody is awkwardly affectionate with Jeannie at work and encouraged by Mason, he asks her if he can make her dinner. At first she says she can’t, she’s promised her parents that she’ll do something, but then changes her mind, saying they’ll understand. Later on, shortly after Justin leaves, Jeannie arrives for dinner… In tears: she just got kicked out of home. She tells Brody that when she insisted on going out, her dad told her not to come back, and that she feels as though her parents treat her like a child. Brody tells her she can stay with him – he’ll sleep in the couch. She agrees, and he leads her out into the garden where he’s set up a romantic dinner for two. It’s beautiful and dinner goes well – later Jeannie suggestively tells Brody that he doesn’t have to sleep in the couch and they kiss…The next morning, Jeannie comes rushing to Brody – her dad knows where she is and is on his way right now. They have to hide! Brody’s bemused, closing blinds to humour a panicked Jeannie, while asking why they can’t just talk to him? Jeannie’s just explaining that he’s not like other dads when there’s a loud banging on the door – Jeannie’s dad is here and he’s not happy…
