Extended Summary

Ash and Kat struggle to get dressed as Sergeant McCarthy demands access to the Garage. Kat hides under the office desk, while Ash collects the remnants of her police uniform that have been strewn over the floor. Ash finally admits a suspicious McCarthy into the Garage. He’s there to investigate some local credit card fraud. Ash tries to waylay him, but McCarthy makes his way into the office to get a look at the Garage’s financial books. Ash is relieved, and a little stunned to find Kat has managed to discreetly slip away unnoticed. Looks like they got out of that one. Ash agrees to head to the police station with McCarthy, where they discover Kat, already back from her ‘lunch break.’ McCarthy lambastes Kat, once again, for her involvement in the Garage.

Brody and Justin are both trying to make peace with what they’ve learned about their mother and Decker. Brody is somewhat glad that his mum found a little happiness during that turbulent period towards the end of her life. They still have questions they want answered though, so it’s back to the hospital where Hope and Raffy are already visiting Decker.

Decker is delighted to see the girls. He makes Hope promise to stay in the Bay with Raffy. Hope casually agrees – Decker is relieved. Brody’s eye is drawn to a necklace Raffy is wearing – Uncle Atti (Decker) gave it to her. Something about this necklace hits home for Brody. He seeks out Decker but finds his room empty. Decker is missing!

Hope overhears Justin receive a phone call about the credit card scam at work. Justin rushes off, as Hope covers her fears – is the net closing in on her? Hope and Raffy arrive home at the farmhouse. Hope tells Raffy to start packing – they’re leaving. But Raffy refuses. She wants to know what’s going on, they just promised Decker they would stay. Meanwhile, at the Garage, Justin has figured out who the credit card culprit is.

Raffy is distressed to learn that Hope has been stealing, she’s ruined everything. Before the two of them can escape the farmhouse, Kat walks in and arrests Hope for the misappropriation of funds using credit cards. Raffy is distraught, begging Kat to let her be with her sister. At the police station, Justin is mad at Hope – this is going to lose them so much business. Hope is apologetic, asking Justin to take care of Raffy. Hope has priors, so it looks like she’ll be in lock up overnight at the very least. Kat tells Justin that Raffy is refusing to talk with her for arresting Hope. It looks like Raffy will be living with the Morgans for now.

Back at the house, Brody learns a little more about the necklace Raffy is wearing – It’s a sparrow… this word triggers a series of memories for Brody: Decker whispering “sparrow” in hospital, and the sparrow necklace his mother was wearing when he was a child himself. Raffy moves off, leaving Brody reeling in shock – all the pieces finally having fallen into place.
An excited Hunter presents Olivia with his ideas for their gap year. Irene’s none too happy about what she’s hearing. Olivia’s interest in the trip is also waning, but she’s finding it hard to tell him she doesn’t want to go. Irene tries to help her out by suggesting they put all the planning off until after the exams, but Hunter isn’t dissuaded, he’s eager to get good flight deals. Olivia sags, feeling trapped. Irene is left convinced that Hunter is pressuring Olivia into going away.

Leah reminds Zac of VJ’s birthday tomorrow, giving him a bit of a hard time for being so forgetful and distracted of late. Irene asks Zac to tell Hunter to ease off on the gap year plans until after the HSC.

Olivia sits on the beach studying while Hunter trains to become a lifesaver. John’s being a hard task master. Unable to concentrate, Olivia collects her books to leave, but Hunter tries to convince her to wait around for him. An approaching Zac is close enough to have overheard the conversation and sees the pressure Olivia feels. When Zac brings up the notion that Olivia may not be as passionate about the gap year, Hunter arcs up. He dismisses his father, jumping back into his training with John. Zac watches on, frustrated – feeling like he hasn’t gotten through to his son.
Hunter later asks Olivia what she really wants, and she works up the courage to admit that’s she’s keen to start university sooner rather than later. The pair agree to go away for only a short break. But while Olivia’s thrilled with the new arrangements Hunter struggles to smile through his disappointment. Watching on from the counter Irene can’t help but wonder if there’s still trouble ahead for this couple…
Later that night, Ash climbs through Kat’s bedroom window, causing her to giggle. He could’ve taken the front door. Ash didn’t know that. He thought she’d want to be extra careful after this morning. In fact, he’s worried that she might want to end it. But Kat’s having too much fun, they simply need to lay some ground rules – for starters, no contacting her when she’s in uniform…. Soon their passions reignite, but as Kat closes the curtains, we see that a mysterious figure is watching the couple from the bushes outside. Who is watching Kat and Ash?…

Decker appears on the Morgan’s doorstep that night, desperate for their help. The drug syndicate is tying up loose ends. Decker reveals why they’re actually safe in the Bay. Before his accident, Decker hacked into the witness protection system and altered all of the Morgan’s records to point to Melbourne. Only the Commissioner and himself now know of their whereabouts. Decker is leaving town, determined to find out who’s really pulling the strings, and he wants the Morgans to look after Raffy permanently. Brody understands, but wants one last answer… That sparrow necklace Raffy wears, that was their mum’s, wasn’t it? Raffy isn’t his niece, she’s his daughter, and she’s also Brody’s half-sister!

Decker makes Brody promise not to tell Raffy or Hope the truth. Hope is wild, she could panic and take off with Raffy. Decker implores Brody to take care of his little sister.
