Extended Summary
Nate is feeling good after his movie night with Chris, but when he tells Tori that he broke things off with Danika, and she nonchalantly encourages him to meet someone else, he suddenly feels the need for another run to clear his head. Chris confronts Tori about her and Nate’s possible connection, but she’s eager to get her coffee and go. Chris presses and Tori reveals that she’s heard dating Nate isn’t the safest thing to do, he’s a serial cheater and she doesn’t want to just be another notch on his bed post.
Chris chases after Nate, telling him he still has a shot with Tori and encourages him to sort out the misunderstanding but Nate’s uninterested in having to defend himself. He can’t believe how wrong Tori is about him. Chris concedes she might have a point but Nate dismisses the idea until he’s reminded of his chequered dating history. Much to his disappointment, Nate realises how it might look to Tori… he’s going to need a drink.
All the while Tori, despite her best intentions, can’t get Nate out of her head. Brody calls her on her mention it is, forcing her to change the topic to some of Justin’s childhood mementos she’s found. She wonders if he’d like to keep them. Brody fears she’s softening towards their brother but Tori’s adamant she’s not ready to forgive and forget just yet.
Meanwhile Justin and Phoebe work out how to negotiate each other post-coital. It’s cute, flirty… and a touch awkward.
Phoebe’s nervous, living together makes hooking up difficult because neither can leave afterwards. Justin doesn’t seem as worried – how bad could it be? However when Phoebe heads to work and Brody realises she’s sleeping with Justin again, his mood turns, clearly unhappy about it, declaring Justin a user of people.
Justin heads home to collect his things – only to find himself sharing a surprisingly warm moment with Tori. She’s still unable to reconcile who their father really was but Justin insists the only thing that matters is he loved them. Touched, Tori thaws slightly towards her estranged brother.
Still hurting from what Hunter allegedly said about her scars, Olivia confides in Tabitha. Keeping up the lie, Tabitha encourages Olivia to cut class and hang out with her instead. Hunter admits to VJ that he doesn’t have a good feeling about Tabitha – something that’s only fuelled when Olivia fails to show up to school. Seeking them out, Hunter has a go at Olivia for skipping class. Olivia blasts Hunter for being so cruel about her but he’s got no idea what she’s talking about. Fed up with his lies, Olivia heads off with Tabitha.
Drowning his sorrows, Nate complains to Chris and Phoebe about women. But Phoebe insists he brought this on himself, encouraging him to let Tori go. However Chris won’t hear of it. He’s adamant Nate just needs a grand romantic gesture. Phoebe insists that’s a terrible idea but before she can say why, Nate disappears, landing on Tori’s doorstep. He launches into a drunken speech, trying to explain why she’s wrong about him. But it’s a mess. Tori suggests Nate head home, he’s clearly had too much to drink. Knowing she’s right, Nate slinks off, fearing he’s blown it with her for good.
Having been filled in, Irene comforts Olivia, adamant it doesn’t sound like Hunter. But Tabitha forcefully insists it is – he doesn’t care about anyone but himself. Fearing the influence Tabitha’s starting to have on Olivia, Irene subtly tries to talk some sense into her but without luck.
Brody snaps at Phoebe again and she calls him on his mood – what’s his problem? He denies having one but she rightly suspects it’s something to do with her and Justin. Admitting it, Brody insists Justin is only going to hurt her. Phoebe’s adamant she can look after herself but Brody forces her to consider whether Justin’s only going to use her and toss her away. Unsure whether he’s got through to her, protective Brody seeks out Justin and warns him away from Phoebe. Justin’s initially uninterested but when Brody points out how he inevitably lies to, and disappoints every one around him, he reluctantly considers walking away. Phoebe returns home and discovers Justin packing his things, having heeded Brody’s warning. Despite her fears he’s running away – just as Brody predicted – Phoebe puts herself on the line and insists that he doesn’t have to go. It’s clear Justin doesn’t want to either. The tension is palpable but the moment is broken when Spike appears. He’s back and his sights are fixed firmly on Justin…
