Extended Summary
Olivia and VJ complain about their new timetable between classes at school, when Hunter overhears. An awkward moment, before Hunter apologises to Olivia for being a jealous tool last week. She admits she was a little harsh. Tabitha shows up and asks if they want to go out for coffee. Olivia is busy but doesn’t want to let her new friend down. Still wary of Tabitha’s intensity, Hunter decides not to tag along.
Alf shows up at the Diner searching for Duncan, he wants to sort a few things out. Overhearing this, Nate admits he saw Duncan – with Tori. Alf marches off, annoyed. Chris teases Nate, he thought the doc was going to stop moping over Tori and become a ‘player.’ Nate couldn’t do that, and he thinks he’s left his run with Tori too late.
Duncan reminisces with Tori about his time in the Bay and Texas as the two share a lovely fish & chips lunch date. As it continues they discuss their families. Duncan talks about his boy Bryce and his fears of his son feeling like his dad doesn’t care about him. Basically fearing that he’s doomed to repeat his relationship with Alf.
Still crashing at Phoebe’s, Justin has torn apart the sink trying to fix the dripping tap. Phoebe didn’t know it was broken. Justin says the place needs a bloke’s touch, which quickly devolves into an argument about sexism. Phoebe attempts to bring up the divide between Justin and his family but he continues avoiding the issue. Justin points out the chores that need doing around the house and wants Phoebe to admit it, having him around isn’t such a bad thing.
Phoebe’s car later breaks down, and she immediately calls Ash – but he’s too far away. Justin steps in… clearly enjoying himself. Phoebe, meanwhile takes the opportunity to check out Justin as he works on the car. He catches her, but she denies it. The car fixed, she offers to pay, but Justin only wants a beer and a meal. Phoebe agrees but it’s definitely not a date… She’s taking him to Salt, denying it’s any attempt to hook him back up with his family again. Besides Brody isn’t even working that day.
Alf returns home, having failed to find Duncan, he continues to be frustrated that his son has skipped out on his responsibilities, and now he’s off galivanting on a date. Roo stops Alf from calling Duncan’s wife. That’s their business.
Out as a group, Olivia, VJ and Tabitha chat about teachers, when Billie shows up. She’s quick to remind VJ he should be studying, they agree to a group study session, with VJ joking that Olivia and Hunter will be back together in a matter of time. Tabitha finds herself getting frustrated with the homework. Olivia helps her along. Hunter shows up and VJ corrals him into joining, Tabitha gives a subtle glance – giving nothing away. It’s clear Hunter is on edge around her. Olivia receives a text and has to head off, leaving Tabitha feeling awkward. Her and Hunter finally have it out in front of the rest. He’s annoyed she’s been giving him filthies all afternoon, and she won’t deny it – he hurt Olivia and she’s not going to let him do that again. Hunter arcs up, telling her the only reason Olivia is being nice to her is that she feels sorry for her, she’s Olivia’s pathetic little project. Tabitha leaves, clearly hurt. Billie and VJ turn on Hunter, that was too far.
Chris tries to tell Nate not to worry about Tori and Duncan before they know for sure. Chris informs Nate that he’s done exercising to clear his head, tonight he needs 80’s action films instead.
Tori arrives home with Duncan that night, and he asks her out for another date. The day just happens to be her Birthday though – they don’t really celebrate them in her family… He agrees to call her next week, giving her a quick peck on the cheek before heading home. It’s clear Tori is feeling charmed by him.
Duncan arrives home to a full house and Roo wants the goss about him and Tori. Alf and Duncan still carry a lot of tension.
Phoebe and Justin’s not-a-date dinner goes well, as they reflect on when they first met, and how well that went. It’s clear sparks are beginning to fly, and Phoebe is privately getting worried.
The next morning Olivia finds Tabitha on the beach looking upset. When she checks on her Tabitha lies, saying Hunter told her that Olivia only cut herself for attention and that he’s glad they broke up because her legs are disgusting. This clearly hurts Olivia very deeply.
Phoebe confronts Justin, saying it’s time he moves out. He agrees but on one condition, she tells him the real reason he’s being kicked out. She says that he knows why… and it’s not long before the two are kissing.
