Extended Summary
Nate bumps into Tori at the Diner, which is awkward for them both. Nate feels down until Chris cheers him up, insisting he take up Irene’s offer to move back into the Beach House. Chris is there to help Nate pack when Danika shows up. She’s pretty full-on, despite Nate’s indifference.
Roo finds Alf at the diner, placing down a letter regarding his will that came in the mail. She’s fishing to find out if Duncan’s still out of the will, and Alf reveals he is. Roo admits she’s done discussing it with him, and leaves.
Nate admits his confusion to Chris – he likes Tori more than Danika but Tori made it clear she isn’t interested…or at least he thinks she did. Chris encourages Nate to end things with Danika. Nate struggles through a dinner date with Danika, distracted by Tori’s presence. Nate attempts to end their ‘casual’ relationship but Danika out foxes him –she’ll see him for more fun tomorrow. Chris overhears, pointing out Nate is the worst break-up artist ever. Nate decides that maybe it’s time he did casual.
After her awkward moment with Nate, Tori searches for solace at the private spot where they shared a picnic. She is surprised to find a mysterious stranger (Duncan) there. He is friendly and they end up getting to know one another a little. Duncan used to live in the Bay but has stayed away…for family reasons. Tori can relate – still livid with Justin. She opens up further, admitting she liked someone but completely misread the signals…and has no intention of going back there.
Phoebe again tries to ask Justin what’s going on with the Morgan family feud, she’s still surprised after her run-in with Tori. He refuses to tell her much except that he broke their trust, If there’s one thing Phoebe knows, broken trust is hard to fix… but it’s not impossible. Justin shuts her down, and Phoebe leaves, frustrated with the lack of a simple thank you.
Back at work Brody has a go at Phoebe for skipping work, but she’s not having any of it. Her family need to sort their stuff out, and she’s not backing off until they do.
Brody shows up at the farmhouse to talk to Justin, but when he makes a joke, Brody is out of there. Returning to Salt to tell Phoebe that if she ever mentions Justin again, she’s fired.
Ash is still struggling to find a solution to the Garage. Kat selflessly offers to sell Leo’s car but Ash refuses point blank.
Matt shows Ash a letter from the bank – they are taking the first steps to default on the loan. The situation is now desperate but Ash still refuses to use Andy’s dodgy money – the risk factor is too high. He doesn’t want to end up back in gaol.
As the bills stack up and they keep losing work, Ash and Matt realise that the perfect person maybe right under their nose. They bring Justin, suggesting he put his name to the fifty grand. Justin flat out refuses, he’s not a criminal. Ash claims he isn’t either, but if the business goes under it will hurt Kat and Phoebe. After hearing Phoebe’s name, Justin is ready to join up, but makes it clear he wants Andy’s share of the business as part of the deal. Ash reluctantly concedes. They’re equal partners now. Ash has to lie to Kat, who finds it hard to believe Justin Morgan had fifty thousand dollars in savings. Ash manages to stop Kat from asking too many hard questions.
Phoebe sneakily manages to get Tori, Brody and Justin in a room together. She convinces them to talk – they wouldn’t be fighting like this unless they really cared for each other. Alone, things are tense between the Morgan’s until Justin explains how he only got involved in their dad’s business to protect them. Tori remains angry at the way he lied but there is eventually a slight thaw. Phoebe is thrilled to hear of the progress.
Alf opens his door to find Duncan, Tori’s new friend standing there. It’s Duncan Stewart – he thinks it’s about time they talked. Roo leaps at him with a big hug. Alf simply marches off, clearly not happy about the return of his son.
Justin knows he stuffed up but now that they’re talking again he lets them know he even bought into the garage today. Brody and Tori are outraged, believing this must mean Justin has been hiding money from them. Justin is unable to explain the real truth. Brody and Tori want nothing more to do with him. Justin is forced to leave. Phoebe sinks – things are now even worse between the Morgans.
