Extended Summary

The day is young as a lone figure weaves unsteadily down the pier. It’s Roo. Overwhelmed and in the grip of the meds she impulsively took, she is now altered and very vulnerable. A fact that immediately strikes Alf as he comes down to open the bait shop. Spying Roo come perilously close to nose diving off the pier, he races over to rescue her, disturbed by her state of being.

Leah is shocked to learn through text that Maddy has left without Matt, but is quickly distracted as she and Zac discover VJ trying to smuggle Billie out of the house: it seems she’s stayed over, but no-one consulted them. A quick investigation reveals that it was all perfectly innocent. Leah and Zac remain conflicted. Should they enable this relationship, or set stricter boundaries? Deciding on the former and drawing Billie closer to the family, a new dawn is coming to the Summer Bay house – one that will see Billie a far greater fixture in the household.

As long as her plan is not derailed that is. Arriving home to the Farm House, Billie finds a frustrated Phoebe unwilling to continue with the status quo. She wants transparency in her own relationship. Billie remains defensive about the paternity of her baby.

Meanwhile, back at the Pier Apartment, Alf’s concern for Roo only grows. She claims to be the victim of simple exhaustion. Roo becomes emotional as she reveals that she woke up this morning to find a letter from Maddy that she was gone, without saying goodbye. Alf sends her to back to bed, hoping a rest is all she needs. But that is soon thrown into doubt as Alf discovers some of Maddy’s discarded pain meds. Is there something more sinister going on here? Roo swears blind she didn’t take Maddy’s medication, convincing her father it’s a simple case of exhaustion meeting bad sleeping tablets. He tells her she’s going to have to be careful. But later in the day, as the drugs wear off, the truth of Roo’s fragile state becomes all too apparent. She hasn’t been coping and for the first time in her life she reached for the pills to help. She’s overwhelmed completely by life at the moment.

Dom finds Phoebe at the café and apologises for landing her in the middle of his dramas. She forces him to admit that he’s put her in an unfair position – they’ve had quite a few problems right out of the gate. Dom has been careful to protect himself – well, Phoebe has to protect herself too. If he’s pushing her for an answer, the answer’s no. Dom admits he didn’t see this relationship coming, but he asks Phoebe to give him a chance.

Phoebe tentatively asks Billie if perhaps she wants to tell VJ about the rape. The truth has a habit of coming out. What if the conception dates don’t match? Billie flares up at this, claiming it’s impossible the baby isn’t VJ’s, and anyone who doubts that has had their head filled with lies from Phoebe. Fleeing, Billie is rattled by this possibility. Her doubts assume gargantuan proportions as Billie is about to lead a PT session, only to be blindsided by a new client – the doctor who diagnosed her pregnancy.

True to his word, Dom advises Tess of his burgeoning relationship with Phoebe, and while she seems to take it well in the moment. Leah observes what looks like quite an intimate situation between the two, as Dom take his wife’s hand. She later tells Phoebe of this closeness… Having lunch together, Tess makes an impassioned plea to Dom for reconciliation. A plea that Dom seems willing to entertain. Phoebe later checks in with Dom, he says he put it all on the table with his wife. It was hard for Tess, but he thinks she appreciated being in the loop. They kiss, and we’re left to wonder if Phoebe’s heart is in danger.

Finally, her panic rising, Billie spies what might be her salvation. Dr Lumley’s security pass. She swipes it as the PT session wraps up, making a desperate bid to alter her records. She works to change the dates at the Hospital when Dr Benson arrives. Billie manages to complete the plan, but is busted by the Doctor as she slips out the door. Billie covers, saying she’s here to return the pass. Dr Benson accepts this, and Billie beats a hasty retreat. It appears there’s no longer any evidence to prove her baby is anyone but VJ’s now. Billie’s tracks are well and truly covered…
