Extended Summary
Hannah is brought home from the hospital by Chris and is touched by the flowers and cake left for her by Oscar and Evelyn. Nate visits Hannah to take her through rehabilitation exercises and he reminds her of what to expect with her pain and scars. She does not want to talk about it. Chris uses the moment to seek advice off Nate on how to best support Hannah in coming to terms with her mastectomy. Nate assures Chris that Hannah’s current response is normal and to give her time.
Reeling from the discovery that Hunter kissed Lindsay, Olivia returns to the beach house unable to hide her anger from Irene. Despite this, Olivia tells Irene she is sorry for going behind her back with Claire and the DNA testing. Accepting the apology, Irene is also determined to remain positive. Meanwhile Hunter seeks advice from Alf, when Olivia doesn’t answer any of his texts. Hunter knows he has to apologise. Before he can though, Lindsay shows up at the house to see him. She is disappointed when Hunter asks her to leave so he can focus on fixing his relationship with Olivia.
Ricky and baby Casey see Nate on the beach. Nate expresses his concern that Chris is isolating Hannah in his attempts to care for her and what she really needs is her friends. Hannah’s current difficulties are only made worse when Chris walks in on her trying to adjust her drainage bags. In shock, she orders him out of the room.
Olivia confides in Skye about Hunter kissing Lindsay and about Claire’s DNA results. When an apologetic Hunter comes to the door he is turned away by Skye as Olivia hides, unable to face him yet. Hunter is insistent on pleading his case, Skye softens allowing him in. Now given a chance, Hunter explains he did kiss Lindsay just the once during his absence from Summer Bay, after the death of his mother. After he got his head together he realised what he wanted was Olivia and she is the reason he came back to the Bay. Hunter asks Olivia to forgive him, but she needs time to think.
Irene talks with Roo about discovering Claire isn’t her daughter and Roo asks her if she will stop her search now. Irene firmly says yes and instead, she is seeing a counsellor to help her deal with it. Chris discloses to Irene how he walked in on Hannah. As Irene queries why he’s left her alone, Chris is confident that Hannah will let him back in when she’s ready.
Ricky goes to visit Hannah, who confides her emotional difficulties. They discuss whether Hannah has considered having children and she confirms that the breast cancer scare made her decide that she does but she is disappointed she will never have the choice to breast feed. Ricky tries to buoy her with the fact that she didn’t do much breastfeeding with Casey but Hannah remains deep in turmoil.
Back at the diner, Chris keeps himself busy working despite Irene and Alf pressing him to be home with Hannah. Upon Ricky’s return, he divulges that he wishes he had a way to show Hannah how much he cares and raises the idea of a fundraiser. With Irene, Ricky and Alf’s support he runs home to tell Hannah the good news. Touched by the idea Hannah opens up her feelings to Chris about her body and with him by her side, she looks at her scars in the mirror for the first time. Chris reminds her that she is beautiful and they share a kiss.
Olivia runs into a condescending Lindsay on the beach who taunts her with the information that Hunter’s cheating was not limited to one occasion like he said. Afterwards, Lindsay takes the opportunity to corner Hunter in the diner and despite him knocking back her advances, she opportunistically drapes her arm around him, which gives Olivia the wrong impression when she enters. Hunter chases after Olivia but she won’t give him a chance to explain. She tells him their relationship is over.
