Will Oscar be found? Irene is heading down a dark path. Nate’s proposal is sabotaged again.
Extended Summary
With Oscar missing, Zac, Leah and VJ hope he’s just cooling off after last night. Matt thinks Oscar will be avoiding everyone after being dumped by Maddy. Maddy and Evelyn come downstairs and notice the tension, but no-one can really knows what to tell them is going on.
The news about Oscar travels to the diner, as Olivia decides to make breakfast for Irene to make up for going through her things last night. Hunter offers to help and they head off together. At Irene’s, Nate organises to visit Ricky, and takes the engagement ring. He crosses with Olivia and Hunter who start raiding the fridge. Irene’s not impressed, but lets them off the hook slightly, and clearly there’s still a conversation to be had between her and Olivia.
Maddy tells Matt how harsh she was when she dumped Oscar, and explains that it’s not true – it just came out. Matt’s supportive, but she walks away, the whole situation a complete mess.
Nate arrives at Ricky’s, and they agree to stay in and spend the day together. Ricky goes to check on Casey, leaving Nate confident that he’s going to propose today.
Zac and Leah continue to make calls looking for Oscar as Maddy’s guilt grows. Seeing this, Matt decides to go out and look, and VJ goes with him. Meanwhile at the beach, Chris gets a call from Zac, and finds Oscar’s clothes and wallet on the sand. He tells Zac to come down, suddenly with a very bad feeling.
As lifesavers head into the water to search for Oscar, Alf tries to keep Zac calm, and tries to reassure him it will be alright. Back at home, Maddy can’t take it anymore, and admits what she said to Oscar, infuriating Evelyn.
After breakfast, Hunter heads off to get his suit fitted for the wedding. Olivia asks Irene about the blanket, but she flips out. Olivia backs down, kicking herself for pushing Irene too far.
Evelyn apologises to Maddy for going off at her and they make up. As they head off with Leah, Matt and VJ, Hunter arrives for the suit fitting, and they prepare to give him the latest in the car.
Ricky’s surprised as she finds Nate putting the finishing touches on a romantic lunch. Feeling guilty, she has to go and deal with a problem at Angelo’s, but promises to be back soon. When she leaves, Nate pulls the ring box out, and accidentally drops the ring down the sink drain. He can’t believe it.
When Ricky returns, Nate is under the sink, and pretends his hospital drug cabinet key is stuck in the pipes. Nate’s being strangely secretive, making Ricky suspicious.
Irene admits she shouldn’t have snapped at Olivia, but still thinks talking won’t help with her problems. Olivia’s worried for Irene, unsure she’s going to have the strength to get through it.
Nate finally gets the pipe unscrewed but it falls loose, and the ring lands out of sight. Ricky offers to help, but Nate’s adamant she lets him handle it. John turns up, and as Nate pockets the ring, he asks if they’ve seen Oscar. As John prepares to explain, the weather gets worse, making Zac and Leah’s anxiety unbearable.
Irene arrives home with groceries, and amongst them, unpacks a small bottle of vodka. Is this how she’s going to cope?
Oscar’s friends and family gather at the Surf Club, and Alf regretfully advises that the search is being suspended due to bad weather. With nothing more to do but wait, Oscar’s loved ones are shattered, scared they’ve lost him forever.
