Extended Summary

Josh is telling Matt about Damo; that he bought more drugs. Josh is adamant he’s not doing it again, he’s just furious Damo would sell a dangerous product like that. Josh wants to go to the cops but tells Matt about Damo’s warning. Matt says just stay out of it then! You don’t want Evie to find out either. Meanwhile, Evie is studying at the diner whilst Roo & Alf are chatting at a nearby table. Roo is telling Alf about one of her uni students who’s in hospital over taking drugs. Evie’s ears prick up when Roo says it’s some new designer drug that’s supposed to help keep you awake. Ash & Phoebe walk in, have returned from their few days away. They run into Ricky and tell her the news – Phoebe’s keeping the baby. Have they told Kyle yet? Phoebe’s in no rush to do that. Is it really the right time, with him still being sick? Ricky reminds her that they learnt from last week that it’s best to get these things out in the open as soon as possible.

At home, Kat and Nate are discussing catching up for lunch. Kat’s heading to the Uni to talk to the kids about this new designer drug doing the rounds. Nate is quiet. Kat mentions he’s been distant the past few days. Kat wants to talk about it but Nate avoids the conversation and heads out to work. At the hospital, Nate checks on Kyle. They’ve found the right antibiotic to put him on for the septicaemia. Kyle wants to go home but Nate stresses he’s still very sick. Ricky brings Phoebe to visit. She gives the pair some time alone and Kyle jumps straight in to apologises for his behaviour last week. He shouldn’t have reacted like that; it is her decision on what to do with the baby. She thanks him. And speaking of that decision… she’s going to keep the baby. Kyle can’t hide his happiness. Meanwhile in the corridor, Ricky asks Nate about Kyle’s treatment. Nate is still beating himself up about letting his duty of care slip when he treated Kyle at home. Ricky’s worried about him. Is Kat taking care of him? Nate concedes he hasn’t told Kat about the situation with Kyle. Ricky encourages him to come clean to her. When Kat arrives for lunch, Nate pulls her aside.

Evie is walking with Josh along the beach and mentions what she overheard at the diner. She knows Josh only took those drugs once but once can be enough. Josh says it doesn’t matter anymore, he’s not taking them. Evie says he should go to the police, tell them who the supplier is. But all Josh knows is the guy he bought off, not the supplier. After their walk, Evie decides to head back to study so they go their separate ways. As Evie walks off on her own, Damo comes out from his hiding place and says hi. His demeanour soon turns cold as he tells Evie he had a little disagreement with Josh yesterday – his clients usually give him more respect. Evie cottons on and whispers Josh doesn’t do that anymore. Damo counters that Josh bought pills off him just yesterday. Then he asks Evie to give him a message. He should keep his mouth shut or they’ll both have to start watching their backs. Evie’s left stunned.

Nate’s just finished explaining to Kat the situation with how he’s treated Kyle. She’s furious; how could he be keeping all this from her? And make a mistake that big? This could ruin his career. Ricky’s overheard so decides to step in. She explains to Kat that Nate was only there trying to do what’s best for a friend. Kat asks Ricky what kind of friend is she, if Kyle’s lying in a hospital bed and Nate could lose his job? Kat storms out leaving both Nate and Ricky ashamed.

Evie’s heads straight to Josh’s – did you lie to me? Evie explains she just met his drug dealer. He told her Josh bought off him yesterday. Josh admits it’s true, but that’s the only other time. Evie tells him Damo threatened her. Josh makes to go sort out Damo but Evie stops him. You have to go to the cops! This guy is clearly the supplier. Josh finds Kat outside the diner. He asks if she’s heard about the drug ring at the uni. Kat asks if Josh has some info for her? Josh is reluctant, but admits he knows who the supplier is. When Kat presses he tells her he bought a few pills off the guy. Josh asks if he’ll get busted for buying? Kat says giving information will help him but first Kat has to track down Damo.

Kyle and Phoebe are talking about the baby, still is disbelief that it’s really happening. Kyle convinces Phoebe to help him out of bed, just to walk around a bit. As they take a few steps from Kyle’s room, Kyle collapses and starts seizing. When he wakes, Nate takes him to x-ray. Phoebe and Ricky are worried so Ricky finds Nate to ask what’s going on. Nate tells her that now Kyle’s gone into renal failure. Ricky’s shocked at the severity and all Nate can do is apologise.

Josh is debriefing with Matt, saying he’s texted Evie saying he went to the cops but hasn’t heard back. Matt assures him Evie’ll come round. Matt asks if Josh is in trouble? He isn’t sure yet. Kat turns up and tells Josh his tip paid off. They found a stash of drugs and cash at Damo’s dorm. Did they find Damo? Not yet, Kat says, but they will. Meanwhile, Evie’s looking at texts from Josh, trying to decide what to do. Roo approaches with a hot chocolate and an open ear. Evie gives her a vague account of what’s going on, just saying that Josh has done something to really upset her. Roo reminds her that if he’s not making her happy, she doesn’t have to put up with it. Evie knows. She makes her way back to Josh’s and is calm. She says they need to talk. Little do they know, Damo is watching them from outside. Josh is trying to assure Evie this won’t happen again, he promises. But Evie’s heard him promise this exact thing last week. Josh rattles off excuses but at Evie’s silence, decides to slow down. He made a mistake and this has been a huge wake up call for him. Evie says after these past few weeks, she’s not sure she trusts Josh anymore. Josh pleads that he loves Evie. Evie admits she loves him too, but she can’t be with him anymore. Evie rushes out as Josh is left gutted. As Josh sits there on the couch, Damo sneaks it from the back. He’s got a cricket bat. What will Damo do?
