Extended Summary
It’s a stunning new day, but Tori doesn’t notice. She’s out running off her annoyance at Justin after he told her to stop being friends with Nate. When she sees Justin on the waterfront – he reminds her that she did the safest thing for all concerned, including Nate. Tori begrudgingly agrees, but when she sees Nate in the Diner, she’s thrown to see he didn’t think she was entirely serious, that perhaps she’d just had a bad day. She has to lay down the law again – she’d appreciate it if he’d stop being overly familiar with her.. Stung, Nate heads to work, leaving Tori frustrated. By the Peir, she laments to Brody about how their situation means they can never settle down or make friends. It’s clear her words have touched a nerve with Brody,
Later, at Angelo’s Justin walks in on Brody making a mysterious phone call – and when Tori marches in to confront Brody, Justin learns Brody was attempting to buy the restaurant. Justin’s furious and to Brody’s disappointment, Tori sides with Justin, suggesting it would draw too much unwanted attention their way. Brody tells Tori it’s her fault for putting the idea in his head in the first place, dropping the bombshell that if the family has to go on the run again, he’s staying put. Later, Tori seeks out Nate to apologise, she’s going to try to stop worrying about things she can’t control, relaying that she’s in the Bay to stay. It seems the Morgans have decided to buy Angelo’s after all!
Phoebe’s making breakfast when Kat updates her about what happened to Irene. Phoebe’s stunned to learn she was kidnapped by her long lost son Mick – more so when she hears he was a serial rapist and was in the Bay at the time of Billie’s attack. When a loved-up Billie comes home from being with VJ, Phoebe breaks the news, suggesting Billie’s attacker may have been Mick, and that Billie might want to report Mick to the police. To Phoebe’s surprise, Billie insists she’s put her attack in the past and doesn’t want to think about it again. Desperate for distraction, Billie heads back to VJ’s but when he tries to become intimate, she baulks. Blaming it on morning sickness, she tries to walk off her rising discomfort. But when she runs into Kat, she can’t help asking questions about Mick. Kat grows suspicious when Billie asks if Mick had a tattoo on his arm. Billie covers, saying she saw a creepy guy around the gym a while back. As Kat leaves, Billie’s shaken, realising that she needs to know once and for all if Mick was the one who assaulted her. She goes to the hospital and, distracting the guard outside his room, slips inside. But when she sees the tattoo confirming Mick as her rapist, he wakes and greets her like a friend. Billie’s strength evaporates and she flees, in utter turmoil…
Meanwhile, Kat’s on her way to work when she runs into Ash. Although still hurt by his betrayal, she finds herself drawn to him. But when Ash invites her out, assuming they’ve reconciled, Kat’s defences rise, telling him she might never get over what he did, before stalking off to work. Fired up, she again tries to get Andy to recant his confession, but Andy is adamant he won’t betray his brother. Fed-up, Kat’s disparaging about Andy and Josh, but Andy reminds her that she was the one who kept Josh’s secret first, suggesting that they were all just trying to do the right thing. Kat admits she’s not talking to Ash right now. Andy doesn’t want Kat to hold this against Ash – she’s in the wrong as much as he is. Ash did wrong thing for the right reasons, just like she did. Andy was the one that dragged the info out of him after all. Affected by his words, Kat seeks out Ash to apologise for taking her anger at herself out on him – and they kiss and make up.
