Kat and Ash are in denial about their attraction after their kiss. Billie has an horrific encounter at the gym. The honeymoon appears to be over too soon for Ricky and Nate.
Extended Summary
Shocked by their kiss, Kat and Ash are quick to separate, agreeing that the kiss was a one-off mistake – Kat is in a weird and unusual headspace after being assaulted by Dylan and she’s desperate not to hurt her friendship with Phoebe over a stupid misguided kiss. There is no protest from Ash – who agrees with her position entirely.
When Billie picks up on Ash’s distraction, he admits he and Kat kissed. He finds Kat hot – despite the mismatch of cop and crim – but agrees with Billie’s point of view that getting together with Kat would be all sorts of wrong… not least because it proves Dylan’s jealousy was founded. Later, Billie runs into Kat and reveals she knows about the kiss. Kat repeats that it was meaningless.
Ash finds Dylan sitting alone and tells him he knows what happened at the farm house. Ash reminds Dylan he no longer has power over them and suggests it’s about time he goes. Dylan works himself into a frenzy at the gym… When Billie witnesses his pain and vulnerability, she can’t help but see herself in this social pariah – and checks if he’s okay. Dylan rejects her help. Billie confesses that she felt sorry for Dylan to a protesting Ash, Billie is not aware that Dylan has overheard her compassionate comments. Ash is worried Dylan is hanging around town and offers to stay with Kat again… She initially says yes but, after secretly realising her desire for Ash is strong enough to cause temptation, Kat sends him home, Billie should be home soon to look after her anyway… Little do either of them realise at the very same time, Billie is being attacked by a masked man at the gym.
Aware there’s been no honeymoon for them, Nate makes an effort to romance Ricky when she gets home in a low mood from visiting Kyle in prison. The couple are happily nuding it up around the house when John arrives home unexpectedly from Europe and all three get a shock. Recovering from the awkwardness, it’s soon clear that John expects them to move out and make room for him and Skye… so off they go to the share house flat, bumping Ash out and into Kyle’s old room.
A disappointed Nate is left alone to unpack and organise their belongings into the tiny space…but his day is brightened by the thrill of Casey saying “dada” for the first time. However, when he relays the news to Ricky, he is unpleasantly surprised by her reaction – she explains it feels weird that Casey would call him dad, as Brax is still alive and is his father. Hurt and angry, Nate leaves. Irene soon puts things in perspective again – this is just normal life, not a marriage crisis. When he returns home and tells Ricky about his chat with Irene, she’s not happy to discover he’s been blabbing their problems publicly. Nate maintains he’s done nothing wrong. They’ve both suddenly lost the appetite for dinner… is the honeymoon over before it began?
