From Summer Bay to Salem to Port Charles

Daily Advertiser

If you missed Australian heart-throb actor Justin Melvey on the American soapie Days of Our Lives, then here’s some good news for you.

The former Home and Away star has joined the cast of the American soapie General Hospital. Melvey has signed on to play Andrew in the popular program, screened in Australia on Foxtel and Austar channel Fox 8. He will be seen in American episodes from August 11. In Australia, General Hospital airs every day at 11.30am – with episodes only a few weeks behind those in the US.

The 36-year-old ex-Sydneysider got his break playing Harry Keller in Home and Away, a role which he played from 1999 until 2001. From Summer Bay he headed to Salem – the fictional town in Days of Our Lives – playing villain Dr Colin Murphy.

Sadly for Melvey’s Australian fans, when the Nine network brought Australia’s programming of Days up to date with the US last year, it skipped footage featuring the star.

The actor also appeared in the first series of Dancing with the Stars. Coincidentally, one of Melvey’s co-stars on General Hospital, Kelly Monaco, who plays Sam McCall, a possible love interest for his character, won the American version of Dancing with the Stars.
