Home and Away's Emily Perry will star alongside Australian Idol contestant Dan O'Conner in a mobile phone soap opera.

Earlier this week, O'Conner landed a part on Neighbours, despite having no acting experience.

The singer from Sydney was as shocked as anyone when he was offered the guest part on the soap, which could become permanent.

He had his first day on the set this week, after two auditions to get the role.

O'Conner will play the brother of Blair McDonough's character.

As well as Neighbours, O'Conner is filming a mobile phone soap opera with Tatiana Grigorieva, fellow Idol Marty Worral and Home and Away's Emily Perry.

The six-week project involves thousands of still photographs being taken in character, which will then be packaged up with dialogue and be sent to the phones of subscribers.

It's a modern-day comic strip.

The mobile phone soap is called Random Place.

Who does Emily Perry play in Home and Away please? I live in the UK so I don't think we have seen her over here yet.
