Anna Paquin's hit US series True Blood is coming to the UK.

The American TV show - which follows telepathic waitress Sookie (Anna), who falls in love with vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) - has been bought by Channel Four, reports The Sun.

The series is set in a world where vampires roam freely among normal mortals thanks to a Japanese scientist who invented synthetic blood, but the blood-suckers are still not overly popular.

Viewers may already be familiar with Anna, 26, for her role in the movie The Piano, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1993.

Along with the rights to True Blood, Channel Four has purchased new US drama Generation Kill, according to The Sun.

The series is based on journalist Evan Wright's book on the first phase of the Iraq War, where he followed the action with the US Marine Corps' 1st Reconnaissance Battalion.

Both series will air later this year.

Just be warned this is a VERY adult show.

It is based on the truly brilliant Charlaine Harris books - read them before watching the show.

I love True Blood to bits (having already seen season one) - Anna Paquin won the Best Actress Golden Globe for it, and it was nominated for Best Drama - but I would not recommend it for the under eighteens. There is nudity and sex and these are not girly, Disney-style vampires like in Twilight - they are proper, scary vampires.

By all means watch it - it is amazing - but be warned this is not one for the family to share!!
