Miranda Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 I saw that they have started a thread for teenagers. I was surprised because I thought there were millions of teenage posters here and have always felt the odd one out being old enough to be their mum So perhaps this could be a thread for older fans/ parents wanting to talk about things relevant to us. I've often wondered if there should be a thread like this Anyone think its a good idea?
Mrs Bishop Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Thats a very good Idea Miranda I,ve felt that when I,ve posted my views that the others who post befor or after are teenagers or in there early twenties not that it put s me off but some time you feel as though you want to chat with some one whos had children or got kids that knows a bit about life I hope you can under stand what I,m triying to gret at.
Miranda Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Thank you Janice, I know exactly what you mean I was worried that people would think I was saying I didn't want to talk to teenagers or was being snobby or something Anyway, due to looking after my toddler all day, I am going to bed tired now. I hope I get an unbroken night's sleep!
John Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 It is a little sad that we have to reinforce the generation gap. However the gap does exist so I guess there isn't much we can do about it.
Miranda Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Well, it was just a suggestion. I'm not forcing anyone to comment, post, reinforce any gaps etc!
emmasi Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 There's nothing wrong with this thread, I don't think it's reinforcing gaps, just giving like-minded people a place to chill. It was originally posted in General Chat, which is where it belongs, but having H&A in the title got it move by accident methinks. This thread is just like the Girl's Room or the Rainbow Room or anything else like that. No biggie. You oldies have fun chatting about kids and taxes and such
John Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Well, it was just a suggestion. I'm not forcing anyone to comment, post, reinforce any gaps etc! My comment wasn't intended as a criticism just an observation. I'll use the thread.
Miranda Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Jolly good to both of you. Now, lets talk about the 1980s
Deborah Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Good idea Miranda, I am one of the "older" ones on here. I sympathise with you, with your toddler. My little boy (nearly 3) has had a bad cold & have had few disturbed nights, with him wanting a drink at 2am or 3am! Hoping he will be well enough to go back to playgroup tomorrow, as only got 2 weeks left this year. He has his Christmas concert Monday too, then Christmas party on 12th when Santa is coming, and that is his 3rd Birthday that day as well Hope he won't be scared like was last year! Hope you got a good night's sleep yesterday & we both do tonight.
Miranda Posted December 3, 2008 Report Posted December 3, 2008 Yes, I did get a good nights sleep thank you This time last year my daughter was really ill and had to go to hospital and it was terrifying, but so far this year [as she is one year older and stronger] that hasn't happened. Now, the 1980s.... remember when we didn't realise George Michael was gay? I had a friend at school who we called Sex Mad Sarah, who intended to marry him. Another friend was going to marry Michael Jackson, and another, Boy George Thank God those fantasies never continued
