Pete lay back in his bed as he thought of everything that had happened in the past few weeks, he had returned from witness protection, saved Drew from Denise. Dan hated me for lying. he admitted to Amanda that he was addicted to my pain killers, started a relationship with her, Tracey returned and then took her life because she thought hers was not worth living any more, then dumped Amanda, tried to sort out his lifebut nearly got killed in a car accident but the only good thing that came out of all this is Drew is now talking to me. He is also falling for the most beautiful woman in Summer Bay. So life has it's up and down Pete thought to himself. But he must forget the past and get on with the future, Dan, Drew, Leah and Sally are all that matters to him now. The next day…. Pete slowly woke up and as he opened his eyes he saw Dan, Drew and Leah looking at him, He pushed up self up in the bed as he said “Morning” “We have come to take you home” Pete’s expression on his face was not the one for someone, who would be ecstatic to be going home, “You don’t seem pleased to be going home!” Dan commented “Mate, don’t get me wrong I can’t wait to get out of here but it just seems when ever I stay at the house something goes wrong. I need to stay somewhere that I know but I can look after my self” “Pete we can look at after you” “Yes I know that but I don’t want to cause any more trouble” “Pete you have already nearly died on us twice you’re not going anywhere” “He can stay with me” Said Sally as she entered the hospital room. They all looked over as Sal grinned at Pete as she said, “When he stayed last time he was a good boy,” she laughed. “Sal I don’t want to impose I was thinking about going to get some proper help” “Pete you have a broken arm and two cracked ribs, last time you wanted to get help you had an accident. I will make you a deal, stay at mine for a week and if you still want to get help I will personality escort you there” “Sal are you sure?” asked Dan. “Never been more sure of anything” “Ok that’s a deal,” replied Pete as he smile grew on his face. “But Sal you can both come over to ours for dinner tonight” Dan said. Rachael entered the room and said, “Right, Mr Baker looks like you are leaving us. So which of lovely friends will be taking him home?” “I will. I want to show Pete a few things before I take him back to yours Sal, that ok?” “That’s fine. I have to pick Pippa up first. Drew, Leah do you want a lift?” “Sure. Thanks Sal” “Cya dad” Drew said as he left Dan and Pete in the room. Pete started to get up of the bed as he saw Dan just looking at him, “What?” “Nothing mate it’s just…” “Just what?” Pete asked Before Dan could say anything else Rachael entered with his discharged papers. “Right Pete all you need to do is sign on the dotted line” “Thank you” said Pete as he handed Rachael back the papers and started to put his shirt back on with a struggle, “Mate here let me help ya,” said Dan as he helped do his shirt up. Dan helped Pete get dressed before he and Pete left the hospital and headed to the car park, Pete slowly got into Dan’s car as they headed to the beach, “Mate you fancy going for a walk along the beach?” Pete asked. “Sure” Dan pulled up in the Surf Club as they both got out and walked towards the beach. “Mate I’m sorry” Dan said as he and Pete sat down. “Sorry for what?” “Everything, me taking out your witness protection death out on you, when I saw you lying in the hospital I knew that all our lost time was down to me. I shouldn’t have hated you for sleeping with Amanda. After we thought we had lost you, I saw the real Amanda. Once she knows what she wants she goes for it. I thought well if she was like that with any other man she must have been the same with you. Just before I had my car accident I spent the night with her!” Peter looked at Dan is shock, “you did?” “Yes and that’s when I realised how persuasive she is” Peter started to smile at Dan as he realised that Dan was telling him everything just like they used to when they were kids. “What’s so funny?” asked Dan “Nothing well it’s funny because you are being honest and I think it’s about time I tell you a few things” “Dan I was a totally idiot when I kissed Leah, my head was messed up I was lying to everyone and I don’t know but It just happened. I hated myself for it. I so wanted to tell you but I knew it would end us being brothers for good. But you are such a softy you just had to forgive my good looking face” Pete said as he watched Dan laugh at him. “Mate before you go on I just want to say that maybe you did kiss Leah but if was just a kiss, if I was not gambling none of this would have happened. But lets forget that now and never mention it again” “Ok but I want you to know everything, you deserve to know!” “Now I want to say sorry again for not telling you about Drew, I was working on a case in the City when I received an e-mail from Christy telling me that she wanted to talk, I went and met her but I was in shock when she said I had a son. I couldn’t believe what she was telling me. I met him but it was no use he didn’t want to know me. I told him that I wanted him to live with me but he was not having it. He hated my from the minute he saw me. At the time we wasn’t talking so I couldn’t exactly just come up to you and say ‘Owe yeah Dan I have a son’ Just after I found out I had to go undercover so it would have made it impossible to look after him. Christy and I agreed that it would be best to send him to boarding school where he would have a good education. I hated myself. When we took him to boarding school for the first time I just looked at him as he didn’t even look back. Pete started to notice how quiet Dan had gone, “Mate are you ok?” “Yea I’m fine.” Dan felt that he would jeopardise his relationship with Pete unless he told him about Claire and the baby. Just as Dan was about to tell Pete, Pete’s mobile began to ring. “Peter baker” “No it can’t be right, when and how?” Pete asked Dan looked up confused about Pete’s phone call as he saw Pete's face suddenly look at him in shock as he put the phone down and said “It’s Jason, He’s dead!” Preview: Who killed Jason and could his death be linked to Claire and the baby? Who gets shot? Teaser: Lara and Jack looked confused but Jack decided he would make a few checks on Claire to see if he can find anything out about what Dan had just told them. “Jack, I was here when Claire was here she was a great detective, just a shame her and Pete didn’t work out!” Lara mentioned.
