Extended Summary

Willow finds Amber sitting on the beach. Amber says she’s waiting for Dean; she sent him to take Jai to school because he was in a mood. Amber guesses Willow is the reason for it, saying she’s got used to reading Dean, and asks what she did. At the Morgan house, Leah wakes up Justin, who has apparently been sleeping on the sofa. Leah is heading in to work and Justin decides to go for a walk with her: He wasn’t able to get any sleep because Tori and Christian were talking in the next room and wants to be gone before they get up.

At the Diner, John tells Irene to read the front page story of the paper…but not out loud. The headline refers to him as gullible and includes a photo that he considers makes him look like a buffoon. Irene says that wasn’t the intention and John realises Alf and Roo were responsible. He tries to storm out and nearly bumps into Leah and Justin, causing an awkward moment. Leah doesn’t look happy at Justin’s response. At the surf club, Alf and Roo are also looking over the paper. Roo notes it wasn’t what they intended but it might do the job. John comes in complaining and Alf bluntly tells him they were trying to save the club. Roo thinks John knew about it since Leila was calling him for a quote. John admits he never rang her back.

At the Diner, Justin is insisting that John got off lightly compared to him and Leah. Irene protests that he’s heartbroken but Justin says he’s been heartbroken and it’s not as bad as losing $90,000. Leah asks if he’s never made a mistake, reminding him that he went surfing and nearly drowned and needed someone to help him. Soon after, Justin gets into John’s parked car with him. John says he just wanted to eat his breakfast in private and senses that Leah sent Justin. He says he’s okay but Justin says neither of them are and what happened wasn’t John’s fault. John notes Susie was in his corner all the time and he should have known it was too good to be true. He says he’d fix things for Justin and Leah if he could.

Amber and Willow arrive back at the flat. Amber is crowing that she was right about Willow and Alex. Willow says they haven’t actually made plans but she’s going to go there and see her in person. Amber realises that’s why Dean was upset. Bella comes in and Willow admits she’s planning to go see Alex. Bella is angry that Willow came to fix things and is now leaving them. Dean arrives and Amber tells him Willow’s leaning towards going. Dean says it would be a mistake and Alex would have told her if she wanted it. He heads out but Amber follows him and says she understands Willow’s his family but families change: Bella has Nikau and Dean has her and Jai. Dean asks if she’d be fine when Jai leaves home but accepts what she’s said.

Dean and Willow walk along the pier. Dean asks Willow if she really wants to go. Willow says if she doesn’t she’ll always be wondering and notes she can go now Dean’s sorted himself out. She notes they’ve come a long way for a couple of ratbag kids from Mangrove River. Dean points out they’re not that far away and Willow accepts they’re still ratbags but tells Dean he’s made something of himself. They admit they’ll miss each other and hug. Amber watches them and gets her phone out. At the surf club, Roo tells Alf they’ve got their first donation. John appears and considers it pity money, saying he’s been made to look like a moron. Roo gets him to answer the phone and, while he has to answer awkward questions at first, he also takes a donation.

Bella and Amber are settling into a table at Salt. Bella hopes Alex doesn’t hurt Willow. Willow and Dean turn up and Amber notes they couldn’t let her go without a proper farewell. At the Diner, Irene is leaving for the farewell and chats to Leah about Justin. Leah calls Justin, who is at home. He says he sorted things out with John but overdid it on the walk. He claims he’s going to bed but in fact lies down on the floor.

Willow finishes a phone call to Jasmine and tells Dean that she and Ziggy can’t come because of work. They start playfully hitting each other until Irene appears and separates them. Willow thanks Irene, saying she won’t die wondering. Amber stands up and starts to give a speech but Dean starts barracking her and Irene again has to play light-hearted peacemaker. Willow follows Bella onto the balcony and notes she can always call her. Bella says just when she thinks she knows who her family is it changes again. Willow says they’re still family and thanks Bella for letting her back into her life. Downstairs, Roo tells John that someone just donated because he saved her son from drowning once and it’s showing the surf club’s a positive force. The group from Salt come down. Roo has heard Willow’s leaving and John says she was the most competent manager the gym ever had. Alf interjects that the Bay will miss her.

Outside, Irene, Bella, Dean and Amber gather to say goodbye to Willow. Willow thanks Irene for everything, wishes Dean and Amber luck and asks for an invite to the wedding, and hugs Bella farewell before driving off. Bella, Dean and Amber go back to the flat. Amber checks the other two are all right. Bella gets a text and Dean guesses it’s Nikau wanting to hang out, sending her on her way. Amber again checks on Dean and notes Willow thinks they’re going to get married, have another kid and name a dog after her. Dean looks thrown and leaves to pick up Jai.

Leah arrives home and finds the bedroom empty, then Justin on the floor. Justin says Tori and Christian are out looking for a lawyer. He recalls Christian advised scans and thinks they should do that. Leah wonders if it feels like the tumour but Justin says he’d kill for that sort of numbness and this is the worst he’s ever felt.
