Extended Summary

Angelo and Taylor are sat on the balcony at Salt but Angelo’s attention isn’t on her. Colby is outside and he and Taylor lock eyes, although he quickly leaves when Angelo notices him. Taylor accuses Angelo of hating Colby but Angelo replies that Colby’s dirty: He thinks he killed Ross, he just needs to prove it. He says he’ll have to cancel dinner to work on the case, which is harder with the commission keeping an eye on him. Meanwhile, Dean and Amber are at the Diner flat. Dean says Karen has medication and therapy, and as a carer Amber’s supposed to know that can work. Amber retorts that when Dean was a boy he’d turn up at their house for dinner or tell them Karen made him get up at 3am to paint the house. Colby arrives home; Dean tells him about seeing Francesca and about wanting Karen to meet Jai. Amber leaves to pick Jai up. Colby offers to talk, insisting he cares.

Christian takes Tori into an office and points out that Justin has a right to privacy and she’s risking both their careers. Tori agrees to stop asking him but doesn’t understand why Justin wouldn’t talk to her, since family usually comes to them about medical things. She says she’ll beat it out of him. Christian suggests she respects Justin’s wishes and gives him his privacy. At the Diner, Leah watches from behind the counter as Justin picks at his food, She offers to take the food home with them and bring cake for dessert. Tori appears, marches up to Justin and asks why he was at the hospital.

Dean tells Colby about Amber’s attitude. Colby accepts Karen has changed but can also see Amber’s point of view, noting she’s just looking out for Jai. Dean hates that Colby’s right and quips that it’s been a while since it happened. Colby gets a text and abruptly leaves. He heads to the motel to meet Taylor. She tells him they need to talk about something but Colby says it can wait and they resume kissing.

Later, Colby and Taylor are in bed together. Taylor says Angelo thinks Colby killed his stepfather and asks him to say that he didn’t. Colby observes that Ross murdered his parents, stole Bella’s childhood and shot Willow last time he saw him, so he’s glad he’s dead, but he didn’t kill him. He asks what evidence Angelo thinks he has. Taylor thinks he doesn’t have anything, he just hates Colby. Colby points out where they are but doesn’t think Angelo knows. At the Diner, Justin and Leah have filled Tori in on the fact his symptoms have returned: Not as bad as before but getting worse. Tori realises that’s why Leah was at the hospital and Leah awkwardly notes it was good to catch up. Tori is angry that Justin didn’t tell her and leaves. Justin wryly notes that at least she isn’t blaming herself.

Next morning, Amber meets Dean at the surf club. Dean is disappointed that Jai isn’t with her, especially when he realises Francesca is watching the boy. He says Amber’s not there for him to make demands and thinks they can talk things over reasonably. At the hospital, Christian is unhappy to find Tori looking at Justin’s scans but she explains he told her about his symptoms last night. Christian reminds her they always knew the tumour could grow back but Tori didn’t expect it to be this quickly. She worries she made the wrong choice leaving so much of it in and wonders if that’s why Justin didn’t trust her this time.

Dean tells Amber that Karen wasn’t all bad, pointing out she pierced Amber’s ears when Francesca wouldn’t let her. Amber retorts that they got infected but admits that it was cool. However, Dean can’t guarantee that Karen won’t forget to take her pills and go on a bender. Dean isn’t happy being asked to lie to Karen but Amber tells him to put Jai first. Later, as they walk on the beach, Dean says he’s not happy about it but accepts her terms, although she can’t keep threatening to take Jai away from him. Amber says it wasn’t meant to be a threat. She notes the reason Jai didn’t come is because she couldn’t drag him away from his new bike. Dean ponders getting him a grommet board.

Colby and Angelo run into each other outside the Diner and note both have been out all night. Colby says he went too far reporting Angelo and was just trying to protect Dean and Bella. He offers Angelo his hand but Angelo doesn’t take it and indicates he doesn’t think that’s who Colby is protecting. He meets Taylor at Salt and is surprised at how relaxed she is despite their night apart. She asks if there’s been any progress on the case. Angelo says nothing of note but it’s only a matter of time.

Justin turns up at the hospital to see Tori. He says he trusts her, but she had to make a big decision last time and he didn’t want her beating herself up over it. Tori points out it’s what she does for a living and Justin agrees to talk to her in future. He leaves and Christian joins Tori, who thanks him for putting up with her and offers to make it up to him. Christian suggests she buy him dinner and says he’ll be in touch. Meanwhile, Colby is sat in the flat as Dean arrives home to quickly change: He explains he’s going to spend time with Jai. Dean realises something has happened and Colby says Angelo has said he’s convinced he did it. Dean realises Colby got the information from Taylor and is unhappy he’s still seeing her. Colby insists he’s handling it.

Taylor finishes her meal while Angelo is lost in thought. He tells her about his run-in with Colby and how Colby thinks he can get away with murder. Taylor protests that Angelo’s got no evidence and thinks Colby’s just protecting Bella. Angelo says Colby’s dogged the investigation from the start, has motive and was the last person confirmed to see Ross alive. Taylor protests that he wasn’t alone. Angelo asks how she knows that and Taylor says she must have read it in an article before quickly leaving. Shortly after, Colby goes out onto the balcony of his flat and sees Angelo staring at him from the pier. Colby awkwardly waves but Angelo just smirks. Colby goes back inside.
