Extended Summary
Phoebe reacts poorly to Justin’s proposal of marriage. She locks herself in the bathroom and speechless, she neglects Justin and goes to the farmhouse in search of Kat. She arrives with liquor, to continue her bender in the comfort of Matt and Evie who are planning their trip to Vietnam and she tries to ignore what has happened, but she is confused on how Justin could have got it so wrong and wonders if he truly wants the same things as her, she is not the marriage type. She gets progressively drunker and ignores Justin’s calls. Matt meets Justin at the beach, where Justin explains he was not planning to propose but he couldn’t imagine himself with anyone else. Matt tells Justin he will be going on the trip to Vietnam and will have to leave the garage. Justin supports Matt’s decision as it is a good opportunity. Justin finds Phoebe at the Farmhouse recovering from her drinking. She asks why he proposed and says he thought she was ready after they helped Tori and Nate rekindle their relationship. They disagree on the simplicity of marriage. Phoebe goes home and is still angry about the whole situation, trying to forget it all by ignoring conversation. At the beach Justin can’t ignore the proposal; it’s still clearly bothering Phoebe. She thinks he’s got a whole other direction planned for them and it’s coming all too soon. He thinks it’s been long enough for him to know she’s the one and if she can’t already see that, then maybe it’s over.
VJ continues to struggle with parenting baby Luc and balancing that with school work and taking care of himself. Leah tries to comfort him by helping watch Luc while VJ studies, and tries to ease his frustration by saying it will get easier, but VJ warns her, it won’t help. At the diner, Leah vents her concerns about VJ and Irene offers to take the baby for the night. Irene comes to pick up Luc from Alf’s and VJ is hesitant. Irene says to Olivia that she is in debt to Billie; she wants to redeem what Mick did. She seems to effortlessly care for Luc and has a nursery prepared, which makes VJ question his relationship with Luc and how he parents.
Olivia and Hunter wonder about his suggestion for them to live together. Oliva expresses that they don’t see each other enough now, but she is sceptical; it’s a massive step at their age, could they even afford it, he suggests it could work between their two jobs and that it would be great. Olivia knows the struggles of living with Hunter and tells Irene, who’s against Hunter’s crazy proposal, and asks why Olivia would even contemplate this; she has a good, steady home and has a lot to worry about with University coming up. Hunter tells Leah who asks how this could even come about and learns it was Alf’s words of wisdom. Both Hunter and Olivia study the Pros and Cons and are excited about them actually going through with the move. Irene meets with them at the Pier and says she’s still uncertain, but it is their lives and she won’t stand in the way.
