Extended Summary

Leah, Ash and Alf arrive at the hospital having heard Luc is missing. Billie is inconsolable, as Nate explains to them that Mick took her. Leah is confused, and doesn’t understand why he’d take her, when Billie reveals the truth – Mick is Luc’s biological father. Billie, VJ and Ash arrive at Summer Bay House, having been told to wait there for news. Still reeling from the reveal of Billie’s attacker, Ash heads off to find Mick. Billie begs him to only concentrate on finding Luc and not exacting revenge on Mick.

Alf and Leah arrive to inform them that the police believe Mick’s stolen a car. As Billie continues to unravel, Leah asks VJ how long he’s known the truth. She’s hurt to find out that he’s known for so long and hasn’t confided in her. But Leah’s hurt is put aside for the search for Luc. VJ apologises to Leah about lying to her – he is going to raise Luc as if she is his own and that still makes Leah the grandmother.

John walks into the Diner and Irene gives him a packed lunch that she made for him – watching Marilyn do it for years has taught her a thing or two. Irene tells that she tried to look in on Marilyn at the hospital, but she was asleep. Irene gets a phone call from Alf, and learns that Mick has escaped police custody. She has to go back to the Summer Bay House. Irene rocks up at the house and learns the truth about Billie’s rape…

Irene decides to go find Mick, but Alf stops her and decides to go himself. Billie freaks when she realises it’s time for Luc’s next feed. Irene blames herself, but Leah tries to reassure her that it isn’t her fault. Irene then heads up to talk to Billie and apologises for what her son did. They embrace.

Down at the beach, Alf and Ash team up to find baby Luc, ignorant to the car Mick stole only metres away with him and baby Luc inside. Back at the Summer Bay House, Billie is in pain, needing to feed, as Irene receives a phone call from Mick. Irene promises to do whatever he wants as long as they can get Luc back.

Irene finds Mick and placates him, each apologising to one another. Mick hands Luc back over to Irene. She takes her back to Billie and VJ. Mick surrenders and is arrested by police as Irene watches on. Back at the Summer Bay House, Billie & VJ ask Irene what she wants to be called – after all, she is her grandmother. Irene asks Leah – are you sure it’s OK? She agrees and they embrace.

At the hospital, Nate, John and Marilyn discuss Luc’s kidnapping, but he tells her to concentrate on her recovery. Marilyn tells John that she is in pain, and that her burns are awful. She worries that she’ll never wake up from the ‘nightmare.’ John asks Nate to pop in and look at Marilyn. Nate tells John that he’ll organise the hospital counsellor to see Marilyn earlier than originally planned. Nate’s phone rings – it’s bad news, he tells the caller that he wants to tell Marilyn himself. At the hospital, Nate examines Marilyn and informs her that there is no blood flow to her hand, the operation has failed – her hand is dying.
