Extended Summary
Justin patrols outside the address that Decker gave Phoebe – an ordinary, rundown house in a field. He’s been staking the place out for a while but hasn’t seen any signs of life. Unbeknownst to him, Ash and Kat arrive, having followed the same address. Ash teases Kat, she’s loving this cop stuff. Another mystery car arrives while they wait – it seems this private residence is becoming quite popular. Sneaking around the back, Justin is taken by a surprise attacker, a woman swinging a plank of wood, she misses and runs off. At this point Ash and Kat show up to block her path, much to Justin’s shock.
Mason catches up with Evelyn, he’s still reeling from her angry reaction to his honesty. He wants to take their relationship to the next level, but she’s not interested. Evelyn can’t believe he wants to ruin it? Mason comes home devastated. Brody isn’t exactly helpful, suggesting that a lot of guys would jump at the chance for a no-strings relationship. Meanwhile, Matt checks on Evelyn, for a quick ‘I told you so.’ Evelyn really can’t believe she’s found the one guy who isn’t into having a causal relationship.
Brody’s been at the hospital all night visiting Decker. Phoebe takes him home and cooks him breakfast. Conversation soon drifts to Brody’s memories. He thought he knew his mother, but it looks like his she was involved with feds. Phoebe opens up about her own experiences, learning that her dad cheated on her mother… Maybe you can never really know someone. Brody is grateful to Phoebe for being there, she’s the first person outside of his family that he’s been able to be truly honest with.
Matt has a private word with Mason on the Beach, getting him to consider the intense year that Evelyn has just been through. She doesn’t need any more drama. Mason resolves to dial back his feelings and give this casual thing a real chance. After another dalliance with Evelyn, Mason is riding high, but can he really keep his emotions in check?
Justin, Ash and Kat introduce themselves to their attacker, her name’s Hope – Decker’s niece. Hope and her little sister Raffy are shocked to learn that their Uncle Decker is in hospital. Kat is suspect, something about all of this doesn’t add up, but Justin remains evasive. Hope and Justin speak privately, he’s sorry he freaked her out. Hope has no idea why Decker would send Justin to her. It seems they’re both in the dark about Decker’s motivations. Before they can take Hope and Raffy to visit Decker, Spike and a crew of thugs show up, attempting to kidnap both girls. Justin and Ash intervene, saving Raffy. The thugs get away with Hope, leaving a distraught Raffy in the care of Kat, Justin and Ash.
Back at the hospital, Brody is excited when Decker begins to wake up again. But it’s only momentary – Decker manages to speak a cryptic clue, “Sparrow” before lapsing into an epileptic fit. Things don’t look good for Decker.
