Extended Summary

Dismayed their cover has been blown, the Morgans prepare to go on the run again. However, having only just celebrated the successful opening of Salt, stubborn Brody sticks to his word and refuses to leave with the rest of his family. It’s up to Tori to talk him around, pointing out that while they’re still forced to live under witness protection, the only people they can rely on are each other and it’s imperative that they stick together. Eventually, Brody relents. The family pack their things, dumping their phones on the table as they leave. Mason alone sneaks back in to take his phone with him.

Oblivious to their drama, Chris declares war on Salt and starts strategising a campaign to keep the Diner on top. Alas for him, no-one else seems too concerned. Chris works on new menus around the café, but Irene and Leah, have no time for it, sending him back to the dishwasher. Chris re-enters later thrilled that Brody appears to have left time. Must have been the talking to he gave him.

Hunter claims he’s fine, supportive girlfriend Olivia remains troubled by his lack of reaction and fears he’s not really dealing with what’s happened at all. Andy and Josh are on the run, they might not face justice for killing his mum at all. It’s okay to be angry.

Marilyn and John are also busy, preparing the house for the arrival of their new foster child, Jordan. Determined not to make the same mistakes he made with Skye, John tries out a new laid-back, laissez faire attitude to parenting but his attempts to make Jordan comfortable seem to backfire. Hinting at Jordan’s backstory, Marilyn reminds John that their new charge has had a difficult life and urges patience.

Meanwhile, the tentative truce that has been called between Roo and recuperating Alf is threatened when she discovers that he plans to cut his son Duncan out of his will. She vents to Leah who warns her to tread carefully but Roo can’t bring herself to stay quiet. She challenges her father who resents both her interference and her suggestion that he’s incapable of making his own decisions at the moment. Roo apologises but admits she’s struggling to understand why he’d do something like this. Alf insists it isn’t meant as a punishment. He and Duncan haven’t had a relationship in a very long time and his absence during Alf’s recent illness only goes to prove how far apart they’ve drifted. He assures Roo he’s made his peace with where they’re at and urges her to do the same. But Roo can’t leave well enough alone and contacts Duncan via email. What has she started?

Irene challenges Olivia to keep trying with Hunter, but this leads to another fight about his coping strategies, disgruntled Hunter heads to his next community service shift and is surprised to see Jordan with John and Marilyn. Learning that they’re his new foster parents, Hunter encourages him to see how lucky he is and a bond forms between the two lost boys. However, as Olivia explains to Irene just how worried she is about how low Hunter might spiral if he doesn’t face his demons.

Out at their temporary hideaway, Tori finds the phone ‘Decker’ left for them. Tori takes Justin aside, wondering what this book that Spike wanted could be about. Perhaps it was something of their dad’s, some hidden information he collected as insurance. Tori’s strength eventually fails her, they’ve never gotten so close before. She thought that was it. Justin holds her as she cries.
