Extended Summary

Nate confronts Ricky, having heard via Phoebe that Ricky thinks her marriage is already on the rocks. Ricky defends, trying to assure Nate that those feelings have subsided after the healing conversation they had at the house inspection. But an angry Nate is disbelieving and stalks off to work. The following day, Nate is still avoiding home when he sees Leah on the beach. Leah’s surprised to hear of Nate and Ricky’s marital troubles and encourages Nate to work on it – marriage isn’t easy but they love each other. Meanwhile Ricky, who has just had a buoying encounter with Tori at the Diner, decides to reach out to Nate herself. The two talk and tension starts to melt away. Ricky assures Nate that she is in this marriage… but that this has been a very trying time personally – she wanted to have more children and thought they’d be with him. Ricky suggests she goes to visit Heath and Bianca for a few days of breathing space. But she loves Nate and a sense of hope is restored between them.

Meanwhile, Phoebe continues to feel betrayed by Ash and Kat hooking up and, as a result, the two remain hiding out at Ash’s house. When Ash suggests lunch the following day at Kat’s place, Kat resists, eager to avoid Phoebe. But Ash thinks they can’t avoid her forever and talks Kat into it. The next day, Phoebe meets up with Dom for a date. Dom suggests a few things they could do, but Pheobe isn’t sold so they just head to her place. They find Ash and Kat in a passionate moment in the kitchen. It’s awkwardness abounding and Phoebe just wants to get out of there, but Ash suggests that her and Dom stay for lunch. They have to face this issue at some point.

The lunch gets underway and it’s super awkward. Kat eventually asks Phoebe for a word and as soon as they’re out of the room Kat apologises. Phoebe doesn’t blame her, and Kat speculates that Ash is finding it hard too, until laughter can be heard from the next room and the ladies find Ash and Dom getting on like old mates.

Elsewhere, Billie is struggling with constant morning sickness, while an unsuspecting VJ remains on cloud nine over their blossoming relationship. When VJ invites Billie over for dinner, Billie is dubious, unsure of how Leah will embrace her. But Billie is buoyed when Leah and Zac both seem accepting. However later that night, Billie is brought crashing back to reality when a giddy VJ lets slip that he loves her. Billie takes off and VJ is left concerned that he has sabotaged his new relationship. The next day, Billie’s morning sickness worsens and when Tori finds her unwell, she insists on taking Billie into the hospital where she is treated for dehydration and assured that everything is okay with her baby. She asks whether Billie knows what she’s decided and Billie is firm that she’s keeping the baby, but says there’s no-one that Tori can call, that she’s flying solo. When Ash arrives, he is confronted to overhear Billie and Tori talking about the baby. A reeling Ash wants to know who the father is. Ash asks whether it’s VJ’s and after a moment, Billie takes the opportunity, nodding that the baby is VJ’s.
