Brax’s lawyer hopes they can beat his murder charge by discrediting Sam as a witness. Sophie serves Nate with divorce papers. Spencer and Evelyn come up with the perfect idea for Maddy’s fundraiser.
Extended Summary
The Braxton family are reeling at Brax’s shock decision to plead not guilty, despite having no evidence to prove his innocence. As they contemplate the likelihood of him spending life in prison, Ricky decides to organise a beach party to make the most of what may be their last night together for 20 years. The following morning the trial begins, and Brax’s lawyer is desperate to find some information that might discredit Sam as a witness. When Ash reveals that Dean bashed Sam and put him in the hospital, his lawyer becomes hopeful he can use this to prove Sam had motive to kill Dean. All he needs is to get a hold of the medical and police reports to prove the incident took place – but will he get them in time to save Brax from a conviction?
Nate is served with divorce papers by Sophie, and blows up at Andy – Kat steps in to calm him down. Later, she invites him for a coffee, but he says no. When she asks him for an explanation for his behaviour with Andy earlier, he admits he’s upset about the divorce, and reluctant to give up on his wife. She advises him to go through with it, as it appears Sophie is better and ready to move on. After much reflection, Nate signs the papers – finally making his split from Sophie official.
Josh is upset about Brax and calls Evelyn several times, but she is helping Spencer plan Maddy’s fundraiser, and misses his calls. Josh is upset, feeling she’s neglected him in his hour of need, but forgives her when he realises why she missed his calls. He offers to help with the fundraiser and they decide they want it to be a Colour Run.
