Extended Summary

Kelli frantically shoves a half dressed Ethan out of sight under the counter, just as Amanda comes through the door. Amanda’s thrown to find Kelli looking so dishevelled. Kelli makes a quick excuse and Amanda is too distracted to press further. Amanda grabs the gym account books and heads out, leaving Kelli and Ethan to breathe a sigh of relief….that was way too close!

Kelli arrives home to find Amanda all worked up as she sorts through some papers. She finds the one she’s looking for and just as she feared, the gym insurance expired two weeks ago. Amanda is horrified to discover she is not covered for damages and now faces losing everything if she is sued. The next morning Amanda receives a visit from Jon’s ‘lawyer’, insisting his client would like to sue for medical and legal costs to the vicinity of $800,000. The colour drains from Amanda’s face – how on earth is she going to pay that? Kelli later suggests Amanda sign everything over into her name and therefore Amanda will technically be declared bankrupt. Amanda finally accepts the idea and organises the papers. Full of encouragement from Kelli, Amanda signs away on the dotted line. Uh-oh what has she just done?

Ric, Matilda, Sally and Colleen return from Beth’s funeral in Adelaide. Rick expresses his concerns to Sally that Matilda is not dealing well with her mother’s death. Rick takes Matilda home but she insists she just needs some time alone. She opens the door and finds a parcel from Europe with a present inside. Matilda opens the card attached – it’s a message from Beth saying how much she misses her. Matilda pushes the parcel away – unable to bring herself to open it. Later, Matilda finally musters the courage to open it…and inside is a beautiful, personal gift from Beth.

It all becomes too much for poor Matilda and she races out of the house, distraught. She runs down to the beach and seats herself on the rocks. She stares out to sea as the tears stream down her face – too emotional to realise the waves around her are closing in. It appears that Matilda has been swept off the rocks and into the ocean. What will happen to Matilda?
