Extended Summary

Kit panics about what has happened to James. Everyone’s on the look out for him. Rachel thinks it’s unlikely that he’ll have another episode – but Kit is blaming herself for him running off. Meanwhile, Kim returns home from a surf to find James in the house – he tells Kim he’s checked himself out and that Rachel okayed it. He apologises to Kim for everything – lying about smoking weed, tensions he created – but he needs one more favour from Kim before he leaves – that he takes care of Kit. Kim promises he will and gives James a ride to the bus depot. James assures him he’s going to get counseling and keep up his medication. Back at the hospital, Kit is desperately leaving messages on James’ mobile, while Rachel decides it’s time to call the police to be on the safe side. This causes Kit to panic further, hoping he hasn’t done anything stupid. Kim arrives & Kit and Rachel fill him in on James’ disappearance.

Bemused, Kim explains he just dropped him at the bus stop, he told him Rachel let him check out. Rachel can’t believe it – how could Kim believe him? She isn’t impressed, but Kim assures them that James seemed fine. Rachel thinks Kim was just pleased to see the back of him – it was personal and about the fact Kim didn’t like being side lined as the father while James was around. Kim’s fuming – he heads out, leaving Rachel once again caught in the cross fire with Kit and the baby as the centre of their lives again. Kim talks to Hugh about the fall out – all he was trying to do was put Kit and the baby first, and all Rachel can do is criticize him for it. Hugh urges Kim to tell Rachel that, but right now that’s the last thing Kim feels like doing. Hugh takes this in with growing concern. Kim heads to see Kit – assuring her he didn’t mean for things to turn out this way. Kit is now feeling scared and alone – she didn’t think she needed anyone, but having James in her life showed her how much she does. Kim lets her know she’ll never be alone – he’ll always be there for her. Meanwhile, Hugh goes to check on Rachel – she’s a mess and is frustrated at always fighting with Kim. Hugh holds his friend as tears stream down her face…

Cassie is telling Sally how thrilled she is with how her calendars are selling for the help line, as Lily sends a text to her – she wants to meet up. Sally asks if she’s heard from Lily – and a guilty Cassie knows she promised not to deal with the situation on her own, so covers. She hasn’t heard from her at all. Mattie turns up to work on an assignment with Cass – they head to the Diner, Cass is obviously distracted, feeling torn about going to see Lily. Matilda calls her on it. Cassie covers again, distracted and says she has to go to see Bryan from the helpline, leaving a bemused Mattie – what’s going on? Lily is waiting down on the beach as Cassie rushes over apologizing for being late. She tells Lily about a great counselor who’s in town and wants Lily to meet with her. She isn’t sure – Kyle will get suss. Lily wants to get help, but doesn’t want Kyle getting into trouble either. Cassie promises the police won’t be involved, unless Lily wants that. Lily thanks her for all her support – okay, she’ll see the cousellor – she’ll meet Cassie here later. In the distance Matilda is watching on, having followed Cassie. She’s a little unimpressed – who is this girl, and why did Cassie lie to her? Cassie returns to the Diner – Mattie asks how things went with Bryan – fine. Then who was the girl on the beach? Cassie stops – busted. Mattie knows it’s Lily – what’s going on?

Cassie fills Matilda in – Sal and Dan don’t know she’s in touch with her again – she can’t tell them or Lily won’t trust her and get the help she needs. Matilda insists on going with Cassie – but she won’t let her and rushes out. Lily isn’t at the meeting spot, Cassie calls and leaves a message, concerned. She returns to the Diner – telling Mattie she’s worried Kyle found out. Then Cass gets a call from Lily’s number – but it’s Kyle! He tells her to mind her own business and to not call again. Worried for Lily’s safety, Cassie knows she has to go over there. Matilda is going with her, the guy could hurt Cass too. They arrive – there’s no car in the drive, they knock. Lily answers, shocked to see Cass and who’s this stranger? Cass explains Mattie is a friend and won’t tell anyone. Lily tells them to go – if Kyle finds them here he’ll freak. She’s sorry she couldn’t meet Cass before, but she got scared. Cassie spots bruising on her arm – he hit you again, didn’t he? I’m not leaving without you Lily. I’m calling the counselor and she’ll make sure you’re put some place safe and Kyle won’t be able to find out where that is.

Lily is unsure – Matilda assures that Cassie was in this exact same position – and got out – so can Lily. As Lily is about to relent and leave with the girls, they hear a noise outside – Kyle’s home! Lily shoves the girls behind the door to the kitchen. Kyle walks in, clocks Lily’s state and wants to know what’s going on? Lily smiles, masking her panic, as Mattie and Cass are holding their breath behind the door. Will they be found?
