Extended Summary

Still reeling from the discovery, Phoebe confronts a sheepish Ash and Kat. They clumsily attempt to explain themselves, which only causes more friction. Phoebe simply not up for dealing with it, she walks away, leaving an embarrassed Kat to also ask Ash to leave for now. In the morning, Kat offers an olive branch that Phoebe accepts, but it’s clear she feels like Kat has broken an unspoken rule about dating your friend’s ex.

Despite the underlying tension, Ricky is keen to make an effort with Nate. She’s been researching potential houses to buy. Despite his indifference, she intends to arrange a house viewing during his lunch-break tomorrow. At work, Nate’s friendship with Tori blossoms. Ricky turns up at the hospital attempting to surprise Nate but receives a text from him at the same time: he is stuck in a dull meeting. She overhears him laughing with his colleagues and realises it is a lie.

Olivia and Hunter are kissing in his caravan. But before things can heat up, she grows uncomfortable and makes an excuse to leave. Hunter is left confused. He confides in VJ, who encourages him to give Olivia more time – the abortion was only a month ago. Meanwhile Olivia sits alone by the beach, looking at freshly made cuts on her thigh.

Hunter suggests he and Olivia head back to the caravan, and she’s immediately on edge. He tries to explain that he just wants to hang out, and still feels terrible for accidentally rushing her earlier. He thinks they should talk about this ‘sex’ issue, but she grows uneasy once again. Hunter doesn’t want to put pressure on her but wants to make sure that this is about the termination, and nothing else he should know – suspecting there’s something deeper going on. Olivia grows angry – is she just supposed to suck it up, because her jerk boyfriend won’t get off her back? She storms out. Hunter grows fearful that Olivia is using the issue to push him away and potentially end their relationship. She is shocked to realise he believes that, forcing her to tell the truth – she is cutting herself again. Hunter is stunned but sympathetic, realising how helpless she feels.

Off-loading to a distracted Ricky, Phoebe expresses her unease that Ash and Kat are together. The two people in the world that know the most about her are dating; she doesn’t know how to feel about it.

Ricky runs into Ash and advises him to try keeping his relationship with Kat under wraps a little while longer and Phoebe will eventually come round. Ash isn’t so hopeful – this is Phoebe they’re talking about.

Phoebe bumps into Dom. Things remain tense after their previous argument, and don’t look like letting up. Phoebe admits that it’s not just their argument that’s bothering her, she also just found out about Ash and Kat’s hook-up. Expecting sympathy, Dom believes she needs to stop being so stubborn and get over herself. They argue and Dom decides he’d rather they keep out of each other’s way altogether! Ash has an awkward conversation with Dom, encouraging him to hang in there because Phoebe gets emotional when she cares about someone. If Dom cares for her too, she’s worth it.

Phoebe and Kat run into other, and Phoebe gives her blessing for Kat and Ash’s romance. Followed by advice on how to keep Ash in line as a boyfriend. They agree that when the dust settles they’re still good friends. Ash eventually comes home to Kat, and it’s clear she only has one thing on her mind. Things soon heat up… there’s no turning back now.

Phoebe confronts Dom and he admits that she was right about disciplining Bella. Phoebe says he was right about cutting her friends some slack – they agree to call it even. But Dom can’t bring himself to invite her back to his place. He has to put his daughter first. If they’re not 110% sure, then they need to give each other some space.

Ricky confronts Nate on his allegedly boring meeting. Nate admits that he lied… but at least he’s not lying about the why he wants to buy a house, claiming the only reason she’s so focused on houses right now is that she’s avoiding dealing with the consequences of her accident. Each accuses the other of lacking empathy. They might thrash it all out but neither quite has the will. Nate finds escapism in his growing friendship with Tori, whilst Ricky confesses to Phoebe her fear that getting married was a mistake.
