2008 - I Still Haven't Found what I'm looking For

Summary

Following the traditions of many characters before her, Sally must move on to greener pastures. And since we're following Summer Bay's traditions, when a character leaves, someone else arrives to replace them. This time it's Sally's very own foster sister Sophie and she's bringing her family with her, bringing with them their own problems, secrets and long lost desires or regrets.

Feeling out of place now that Mr Bartlett is principal, Sally has talked to Sophie and is intrigued by an idea her daughter, Tammy sugested to 'Swap houses'. But when they suddenly appear at her home before Sally has made her decision she feels pressured. Is Sally ready to be replaced? Or have they made the decision for her?

ALL GROWN UP:

Tamara "Tammy" Dean (née Simpson) is now sixteen, she is a fun-loving Drama-Queen disguised as a modern-day goth, an Emo by looks only. She is passionate about making and starring in movies and is an actor on and off the camera. She knows one day she'll be a big star and feels everything until then is just a rollercoaster ride, some ups and downs but deep down it is all for fun. She's escaping her life in Perth after an embarrassing homemade movie is spread round the school after an ugly break-up. Despite this she's excited about living in Summer Bay.

INT. SUMMER BAY HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - DAY

(Sophie and Tamara's first scene back)

POV from TAMMY'S hand-held Video Camera--

TAMMY (OOV)

(Enthusiatic)

Hello Paradise!

As she enters the house TAMMY DEAN narrates what she records.

The camera starts off shakey as it looks around the living room. The place is spotless, not an item out of place.

TAMMY (OOV)

Welcome back to the Tammy Dean show. If you have just tuned in- I have just arrived in Summer Bay and I'm Live inside my new home...

The camera shows the photos on the mantlepiece--

The camera stops on a photograh of SALLY.

TAMMY (OOV)

(Softly, to herself)

Aunt Sally!

SALLY (OOV)

(Calling from upstairs)

Hello?

TAMMY (OOV)

Just me Aunt Sal!

We hear the sounds of footsteps coming downstairs--

The CAMERA moves to show SALLY appear into the room.

SALLY

Tamara! (A Beat!) What are you doing here?

TAMMY (OOV)

Isn't she gorgeous? Like Meaghan Gale...

With the camera on her, SALLY subtley tries to fix herself up.

TAMMY (OOV)

...She is the reason I'm here. Mum and her plan to swap houses.

SWITCH TO NORMAL CAMERAS- ANGLE ON TAMMY

As she takes the camera away from her face.

The two hug shortly.

SALLY

It's good to see you but why are...

SOPHIE (OOV)

TAMARA!

TAMMY looks to the door where SOPHIE stands in the middle of two large suitcases. She starts recording her mother.

THROUGH TAMMY'S CAMERA

SOPHIE

Would you turn that thing off? (A Beat) Your luggage doesn't carry itself you know.

BACK TO NORMAL CAMERAS-- ANGLE ON TAMMY!

She turns the camera off.

TAMMY

Yet here it appears inside the house as if by magic.

SOPHIE

That's not funny.

SOPHIE then spots SALLY planting a smile on Sophie's face.

SOPHIE

Sally, you're looking good.

They hug

SALLY

You are too.

SOPHIE

(about the suitcases)

This is all we have for now. Blake will bring David and the rest of the stuff up with him in a few weeks.

SALLY

(Confused)

You're staying?

SOPHIE

You did know we were coming right?

SALLY

I wasn't really expecting you.

SOPHIE

(To Tammy)

I thought you spoke to her and she said it was fine.

TAMMY

I left a message and I knew it would be fine.

SOPHIE

You left a message?

SALLY

I didn't get a message!

Both TAMMY & SOPHIE ignore SALLY.

TAMMY

I kept ringing and nobody answered so I had to leave a message! It isn't my fault! (A Beat) You should have rang her yourself!

SOPHIE

If I didn't have to sort all your mess out, I would have had the time too.

TAMMY

My mess?

Sophie nodds.

SALLY

Sorry to interrupt...

SOPHIE

How's this Tam? Next time you want to star in a movie make sure your clothes are on before its shown to the whole school!

TAMMY

Yeah because I wanted the whole school to see...

SOPHIE

Drop it Tam! You wanted to move out of Perth- well you got it.

SALLY

(Finally Snaps!)

ENOUGH! I haven't made up my mind yet and both of you barging in here like this is not going to make the decision for me...

SOPHIE

Sally!

SALLY

...I should have known you were coming... There are other people to consider here. You can stay for a little while but until I've made a decision its only going to be a visit.

SALLY storms upstairs.

ANGLE ON SOPHIE

Dumbfounded by Sally's attitude.

ON TAMMY-

TAMMY

Heh! So where's my room?

SOPHIE

We're staying in a caravan, Tam!

TAMMY

(Fuming)

A what?

SOPHIE

You heard me!

TAMMY walks away, heading for the door, clearly unhappy with the situation. She turns her camera back on and turns it to her face.

POV VIDEO CAMERA- CLOSE ON TAMMY

TAMMY

So much for Paradise!

NORMAL CAMERAS

ANGLE ON SOPHIE--

As she rolls her eyes.
