  1. Thanks, it's OK though, you kinda just get used to it (and the perks do go a little way to making up for it a bit lol). I know, SATs are a waste of time and you described them perfectly...I'm so glad we don't have to do them!
  2. We don't have to do Citizenship, although my school is a private one, not state, so maybe that has something to do with it. Because we don't have to do SATs and stuff like that, 'cos the government has less of a say in the running of our school. Oh...well done in being predicted an A....I hope you get it! Yeah, I am taking driving lessons at 16 because I have CP (Cerebral Palsy). It's a disability that I luckily only have a very mild form of because I was born 9 weeks early and suffered brain damage at birth. But it only midly affects my legs and my ability to write at great speed. But anyway, because of all this it means that I can learn to drive a year before everyone else (ie at 16). So I guess there are a few perks to having a disability...
  3. Luckily 'cos I drive an automatic car I've never had the problem of stalling (apparently it can only happen in a manual car...not sure why though), although I have been known to attempt to go the wrong way around a roundabout after my instructor said, "Go right at the roundabout" lol. I think that my parents would be pretty annoyed with me too if I worked on a Sunday and so couldn't go to Church...I don't really see why as IMO you don't have to go to Church to feel close to God, but I still know that my parents would be funny with me. It's a shame really. But I know that that would be the way it would be.
  4. I'm learning to drive too! It's a wee bit scary but not as bad as I thought it'd be. Also, if you don't mind me asking, did you used to be Catholic? No, it's OK, I don't mind. Nope, I've never been Catholic....I'm actually a Protestant Christian lol.....but it's just that my parents think that the education is really good so they send me there irrespective of the fact that it's Catholic. They think that I can just 'ignore' the religious aspect of the school, but it's kinda hard when you're made to go to Mass every couple of weeks lol. Driving's ace....but then again maybe the reason that I like it so much is all the power it gives me....I'm a bit power crazy lol. I'm so glad our orals aren't that close....I don't go back to school until Monday lol. Ooohhh....Citizenship...that sounds fun....although we can't take it as a GCSE at our school.
  5. Yeah, actually thinking about it my first actual exam is on 7th May, although it's just an Italian oral exam so hopefully I shouldn't have too much trouble - just a case of making up the answers to random questions as I go along and learning my presentation. But I think my first written paper is about a week before Half Term so about 5 weeks to go - Music - my favourite! Yeah right! XxX
  6. Good luck with your gsces. Thanks....I think I'm gonna need all the luck I can get.....5 weeks to go and counting!
  7. It's OK....and yeah....the perks are ace! 17. How old do you have to be in Australia? 16 to get your L's (Drive with someone else) 17 to get your P's (Drive alone) 20 to get your full liscence (I think) 20! That's dead late! I really couldn't imagine having to wait an extra 4 years! I think in the UK you can apply for your license when you're 16....but you can't learn until you're 17.
  8. 17. How old do you have to be in Australia? Yeah....because I have mild CP (Cerebral Palsy).....it's a disability - 'cos I was born 9 weeks early and was brain damaged. Although luckily it is very mild and only very mildly affects my legs and my ability to write at great speed (which is OK 'cos I just use a laptop at school - problem sorted lol). So I get to learn to drive at 16 and get to queue jump at theme parks and other little perks lol.
  9. *Post deleted*
  10. Heya! Is anyone here? *Pokes head around the door of GC. Stares into an empty room* Oh well....I may as well just talk to myself for a bit and see if anyone else comes to keep me company.... Well....where do I start? Ok then....my name is Jess (although most people call me jeh-jeh). Umm...I'm 5'7, slim and a brunette. I'm 16 (just about to do my GCSEs) and I go to an all-girls Catholic (I'm not actually Catholic though) school. I love shopping and listening to music. I'm single and I live in Stoke-on-Trent in the UK. Ummm.....oh yeah.....I have a job......and I'm learning to drive! Wooo! Taking my theory test soon! That is moi!
  11. lol, cool. I've stayed up for 22/23 hours with no sleep that's the longest i could manage lol. I've managed 24 hours once...but it was horrible 'cos it mucked up my sleep pattern so much....I love my bed too much....I need my beauty sleep lol
  12. Lol cool... so have you just been online all night then?
  13. Have you just had a shower at 4 in the morning?!
  14. Anyone here? *Pops head around the door*
  15. Yeah, my name has just changed. I PM'ed to have a change a few hours ago and I've just noticed it's been swapped over. I fancied a change and my nickname is jeh-jeh (my name is actually Jess) so that's the new name
  16. Not many schools do it really, which is a shame 'cos I've been able to meet some seriously fit people through going on exchanges to Milan lol Will you believe that i'm still here now? lol. It's 2:18 and I should have been in bed hours ago but I just can't sleep. I will probably just end up staying up, if I go to bed now, I won't wake until some hour in the afternoon. If I stay awake to 7:30/8pm tonight I should be that tired I'll fall asleep and my sleeping pattern will be restored. Sounds like a good plan! I can't believe I've been here all afternoon...got no work done whatsoever...oh well...there's always tomorrow
  17. Yeah, 'cos most Uni's run Italian degrees for people who no nothing about it. I had to choose between Italian or French for GCSE so I took Italian then found I was good at it so I decided to carry on with it. My school is the only school in the Midlands (in the UK) that runs it for GCSE.....I think there's only one other school quite a long way away that offers it
  18. Psychology, Chemistry, Biology & IT. Chem and Bio are hard, they need you to do constant work every single night after the classes at school really if you want to do well in them. Chemistry was my favourite subject at GSCE, but i don't like it that much any more at AS, i think it's too hard. Psychology is really good though, if you like that kind of thing. With IT, you either have to be good at theory or coursework or both. I like the Theory but not the coursework, but the as level is based more on the theory which is good. I really enjoy chemistry and was thinking of talking it up for an AS but thanks for warning me. I had a feeling it would be different from how it is a GCSE level. I have chosen to do Psychology as well; I’m really interested in how the mind works etc. Next year I am doing, Law, Sociology, Psychology and Business. Cool, I wanted to take Law, but my school don't offer it as an A-Level option, so I've decided to do it with Italian at Uni instead.
  19. I'm back again now. I can't believe you're still here Holly....someone's gonna be very tired in the morning....if I try to stay awake I just fall asleep while doing whatever I'm doing lol
  20. Psychology, Chemistry, Biology & IT. Chem and Bio are hard, they need you to do constant work every single night after the classes at school really if you want to do well in them. Cool, I've just chosen my options and I'm taking English Literature, Biology, Philosophy&Ethics and Italian. I love Italian so I know I'll be OK in that, but I don't know about the other 3, I guess I'll just have to wait and see how my GCSE results come out this summer.... Boooorrreeeed!
  21. aejdude, what subjects are you doing at AS?
  22. The depressing thing is that after GCSE's it just seems like one endless string of exams....AS, A2, then Uni.....what fun!
  23. Well done! It just shows how much I've been on here recently....my posts actually seem to be going up pretty fast lol. Yeah, that sounds about right, although we take our GCSE's at the end of Year 11 (16 yrs old) and then AS Levels in Y12, then A2s (together they make up an A-Level) at the end of Y13.
  24. Even though A-Levels are gonna be more work...I hope I find then slightly more enjoyable (for want of a better word!), 'cos (at least in theory) I should be taking subjects I find more interesting than the rubbish I have to take now.... Some of the GCSE's aren't too bad...simply 'cos I don't really need to revise much....others are hell 'cos I know that no matter how much I revise I'll never be able to understand some of the concepts....oh well...they'll be over soon enough
  25. It'll take more than a pesky flood control system to stop me *evil laugh* mwahahahahaha! Lol
