Ryan Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 World number three Lleyton Hewitt has been forced to pull out of the Montreal Masters by a stomach bug. The second-seeded Australian was trailing 4-3 in the first set of his first-round match against Frenchman Florent Serra when he had to retire. Hewitt, 24, reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon and the final at the Australian Open this season but has not played since the Davis Cup in mid-July. "I've had some kind of stomach virus for the last few days," he said. "It just got worse and worse. "I haven't been able to eat anything the last three or four days as well which just really hit me because I've got no energy. "With the heat today it just felt like I had nothing out there."
