Star wars on home video front

Daily Telegraph

17 June 2005

SYDNEY starlets Holly Brisley (left) and Toni Pearen are set to go head to head in a clash of the home video shows.

In a case of the blonde v the brunette, Brisley will host her own Craziest Videos program to take on Pearen - the face of Nine's Australia's Funniest Home Videos show since 2003.

Seven is yet to schedule an on-air date for their version of the bloopers bonanza, but a spokesman said it would not compete directly with the Australia's Funniest Home Videos' 6.30pm Saturday timeslot.

Nine is confidently backing 32-year-old Pearen - who also stars in the ratings winner Celebrity Circus - having just renewed her contract as a "network personality".

But when auditions were held for Australia's Funniest Home Videos two years ago, Brisley "wasn't even a close runner-up" to Pearen, a Nine insider informed Confidential.

"Toni has beaten Holly before, so this show is not such a great threat," the source said.

At Seven HQ, the head honchos are throwing their money behind former Dancing with the Stars babe Brisley.

"Holly is Seven's new It Girl," a spokewoman said. "Since Dancing with the Stars her popularity has gone through the roof."

The stakes are set to rise even higher when Brisley makes her debut as vixen Amanda on Seven's Home and Away next month.
