Bec's ready to be TV's golden girl

Herald-Sun

30 April 2005

ALL eyes will be on Bec Cartwright at tomorrow night's Logies, as the Home and Away star firmed as favourite to take out the Gold Logie.

Cartwright was in Sydney yesterday preparing for the big night, where she will make her red carpet debut with fiance Lleyton Hewitt.

The 21-year-old is expected to wear an original Lisa Ho gown, the same designer that singer-actor Delta Goodrem used so successfully at the 2003 ARIA awards.

"It's great hanging out with cast mates, and I am excited about taking Lleyton and I get to see people I only see once a year," Cartwright said.

When Cartwright and Hewitt arrive on the red carpet, which this year will be a themed white, they will cause a frenzy. She admitted to being a little nervous.

"The Logies carpet is the longest red carpet I have seen, it's never-ending," she said.

"I always get a bit nervous when I first get out of the car, with all the media and fans waiting for you and everyone talks at once. After that I can relax and enjoy the night."

Cartwright is up against Rove McManus, John Wood, Georgie Parker and Bridie Carter for the Gold.

She is also nominated for a Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress.

"It's very flattering to be amongst the calibre of actors that have been nominated. However, it was still a huge surprise when I found out I was nominated," she said.

Cartwright will present an award with Neighbours actor Blair McDonough.
