AFTER this year's Wimbledon, Lleyton Hewitt and Bec Cartwright will visit the site of the planned orphanage they will help build in Cambodia.

Cartwright, 21, has been granted special leave by the producers of TV soap Home and Away to attend the Wimbledon tennis in London in June and July and the orphanage site, which is in a remote part of Cambodia.

Working with the AIDS Trust of Australia, the engaged couple will raise funds for the project, acting as ambassadors.

Cartwright donated $41,000 to the AIDS Trust of Australia, which she raised from her appearance on Dancing With The Stars.

The couple also donated what was believed to be a six-figure sum they received from interviews they sold to New Idea and Channel 7.

AIDS Trust Australia chief executive officer Terry Trethowan said the orphanage housed 62 children affected by HIV/AIDS.

Run by Buddhist monks, a new 5ha site has been bought for the project from funds raised already.

This is the site Hewitt, 24, and Cartwright will visit.

Oh, good lord... I guess the girl just loves being in the spotlight...

Good on them I guess... am tempted to accuse them of doing it for the attention, but can only commend the good cause...
