Students' fashions on show

Northern District Times

18 July 2007

RYDE Secondary College held its annual fashion show with special judge, Home and Away star Joel Philips.

The day was a huge success with students from Years 8, 9 and 11 showcasing a wide range of garments they had designed.

School captain Vivian Yue said it was the most successful fashion show the school had ever held.

"The judges weren't just teachers from our school and we had a proper catwalk and smoke machine; it was really professional," she said.

A range of creative garments were unveiled, including a wedding dress and a masquerade-style outfit.

Year 11 students completed their works as part of their HSC requirements while Year 9 students designed clothing with an outback theme.

The Home and Away star said as one of the judges he was looking for creativity and hard work.

"There were some really creative designs; it was a very entertaining show," he said.

Students used their own designs, colours and materials and were asked to solve a problem that was set by their teachers.

The winning students received prizes including a $100 gift voucher from Woolworths and a range of books from Dymocks.
