Stars find love is in the air

JASON Smith can vouch for the love potion that seems to have bewitched the set of Dancing With The Stars.

The 21-year-old Home and Away star met his current girlfriend, hip hop dancer Laura New, while performing in series two of the show.

The pair were practising their dance moves in the same studio when love blossomed.

"It seems going through the series and finding someone is somehow entwined," laughs Jason, who was in town yesterday to shoot a promo for Home and Away.

Jason rattles off a list of newly "loved up" pairs from the show - Bec Cartwright and Lleyton Hewitt (of course), Ada Nicodemou and Sydney chef/restaurateur Chrys Xitolitas (who will wed next year), and the back-on-again Tom Williams and Kym Johnson.

Jason was actually sitting next to Bec and Lley-Lley at the Logies - the pair criticised for dragging their bub, Mia, up onstage in what some have dubbed a "shameless publicity stunt".

Jason, however, thought it was a "nice" gesture.

On Home and Away, Jason plays Robbie Hunter, the husband of Isabel Lucas's character (Lucas dates fellow Home and Away star Chris Hemsworth in real life.) Jason says there's no tension on set despite the apparent love triangle.

"We're just acting and it's not real, and at the end of the day we go home to our real partners," he says.
