The 2000 - 2003 Opening Titles featured 3D fish, which swam across the screen. They are in fact called Palette Surgeonfish, or Paracanthurus hepatus. According to Odell's Field Guide, "The palette surgeonfish is one of the most colourful fish on the reef. Surgeonfish get their name from the small scalpel-like spine on each side of their tails. This spine is used for protection and, with the flick of the tail, can cause a deep, painful wound in any fish who gets too close."
