Welcome to Summer Bay News #6. Things are a bit different here at Summer Bay Web now. As I'm sure you will have noticed the lines are now rather colourful. Hope you like that little touch! If your web browser is not loading pictures then I'm afraid you won't see any lines! The other change is that Summer Bay News now has a vice-editor!! I suggested this to someone else a while back but he decided he was too busy already! However, the new vice-editor is BEX DOWNEY. I'm sure you've seen her name here before. She tells me she has views on everything so that should be interesting! Welcome to Summer Bay Web, Bex!!

This issue's quote comes from Isobel talking about her son. Well, if he was born 50 years old that must have been quite painful for her! In this issue there are the results of the 3rd Summer Bay News opinion poll, a new opinion poll, a great top ten list, some excellent How Can You Explain That? replies, a new trivia question and a brand new reviews section! I hope you enjoy and will send me some feedback for issue 7!

Bex's Editorial

Hello, I'm Bex Downey.

I am now vice-editor of Summer Bay News (self-appointed actually). My mission is to spoil the future Home and Away plots for you by exclusively revealing what is going to happen! My crudentials being that I was born in Australia (yet live here in Britain) and I have a mighty love for Home and Away. These spoilers would not be possible without my little helpers in Australia who are forced by me, to watch Home and Away every day to tell me exactly what is happening plot-wise. I have to say I love Marilyn. She just lifts the plot - the show wouldn't be the same without her. Ignorance is bliss, eh?

Recently there have been many sub-plots occuring: "Pippa's brain - will it ever be the same?", Paul, the spat between Chloe and Selina over Jesse (what a prize he is), Steph's death and numerous romances bubbling over. I think you can tell Locky and Shannon will get together! I love the way that Pippa's household has been running itself - no need for her! No one's been looking after Christopher; thank God Bert has finally turned up (even though he spends more time with Isobel!). Watch out for Saul turning up in Summer Bay wanting to get Joey back amongst other things - that's when pandamonium begins (oh, and excellent plots). It is all revealed below - have a good read and look forward to my next installment!

OPINION POLL #3 RESULTS

Last issue, the opinion poll question, suggested by Jen Till was do you think Marilyn is a bimbo or a bubbly caring woman? And here are the results...

BEX DOWNEY: Personally, I think Maz is by far the best character in Home & Away. She just lifts the whole show & is so funny. She's no bimbo - she finds it very hard to give her heart to other people. Yes, she's as bubbly as they come. I think it is apt to say in her case that ignorance is definitely bliss!

ALAN SHADE: I think she is definitely a bubbly caring woman. Her character was obviously introduced so people would think "bimbo" and then realise what is underneath. Marilyn doesn't have an evil bone in her body - she is pretty, kind, loving and generous. She attempted the loud, free-and-easy life with Haydyn and found that it was not for her. She likes being Marilyn and I (and I think we) like her being Marilyn too! Don and Maz 4 Ever!!!

ADRIAN MURPHY: Bubbly caring woman !!!!! She ain't no bimbo. She got her HSC, and Donald has tought her so much and she understands the world. She is NOT a bimbo.

JEN TILL: my thoughts on Marrylin....I think shes great...sure she comes across as an air head, but she also has some great ideas about life..shes the"breath of fresh air" in Fishers life..and I sure wish I could be as happy as her all the time :}

D.K.N.Y. GIRL: She is a tart but she is not a bimbo!

THE WORLD OF HOME AND AWAY!

Home And Away is shown in Jamaica but they are way back in the old episodes when pippa was played by Vanessa Downing! Thanks to Lyn Turner for that information. Please let me know any info you might have on Home And Away in other countries. Thanks!

JEN'S TOP TEN REASONS FOR WATCHING HOME AND AWAY

10. THE CAST..we all have a favourite that we look forward to perving on..(i mean seeing the fantastic acting skills of..:} )..we all have at least one we love to hate that we watch every night just to see if they're dead yet...

9. ISLA FISHER..well, not my personal favourite, but it seems the red head has quite a following out there...mostly male, surprise, surprise:}.....if she IS leaving then, what will the guys amuse themselves with??!!!

8. OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS....after having "one of those days" soaps are a great way to unwind...

7. CONTENT...you've got humour..you've got action..you've got romance..you've got drama...even philosophical discussion rears its head now and then (usually over a milkshake)..what more could one ask for??

6. STORYLINES..Marylin and Donald's courtship and marriage..Jesse and Selina..the commune business..Shannon's adventures..

5. LOCATIONS...makes u feel lucky to live in Australia...and jealous if you don't!! :}

4. FUNNY...when its supposed to make u laugh it does..sometimes even when its supposed to be serious it does!!!! :}

3. ENTERTAINING..well it must be, cause otherwise why do we all watch it???!!

2. IT'S ADDICTIVE..forget the chocolate, forget the caffeine..once u start watching Home and Away it seems you will never be able to stop..

HOW CAN YOU EXPLAIN THAT? REPLIES

The scene where Kye hit Pippa was cut out of Home And Away here in England. Last issue I asked how you would explain why she is suddenly on the floor if you did not know she had been hit. Here's what you came up with...

ADRIAN MURPHY: Amazingly I can't think of a funny one ! Um, she tripped up on her long floral frocks ? nah, that's not funny. Um, nah none comes to me!

MARK DIXON: Alf drove past in his worn out old 4x4 and one of the tyers burst, shot off and knocked the leaver on the Automatic Hose pipe Reteact(tm). This wound the hose pipe back at 200 mph, knocking it into Sam who shot upinto the air and landed on Shannon. Shannon screamed and a herd of bush buffalo came running out and trampled Pippa.

ALAN SHADE: Okay, well, my theory is that Shannon hit Pippa. She then tried to cover it up with everyone by saying Kye did it. That shows us why she felt so guilty afterwards. You see, just before Kye came over, Shannon had been told of the torrid affair that he had been having with Pippa behind Shannon's back...this also explains why Pippa wanted Shannon to leave Kye. However, this doesn't explain why Kye hit Liam - well that is just easy... you see, Pippa asked Kye to knock some sense into Liam over this bell-pushers scheme he is doing...and Kye just slightly misunderstood "knock some sense into him". Besides, who wouldn't hit Liam? (sorry Liam fans - send my hate mailto alan.shade@why.don't.you.get.a.life.com)

REVIEWS - HOME AND AWAY THE MOVIE

There have been three video releases of Home And Away here in England and over the next three issues I am going to review them. The first is Home And Away - The movie. This is a special 90 minute 'movie' that fits in before episode one of Home And Away. It starts off back in 1978 with a young Frank Morgan being caught by the police and fostered by Tom and Pippa Fletcher. Back in 1988 the Fletcher's now have five foster children, Frank, Carly, Lynn, Steven and Sally. Tom then loses his job and the family move to Summer Bay to run the caravan park. Young Bobby Simpson causes problems for the family but Pippa eventually persuades her to come and live with them, much to the other kids' disgust! If you watch episode one it is clips from this movie that are shown before the opening titles are played. The movie is very good and is interesting to watch over and over again, well I think it is anyway. It introduces the characters a lot better than the official episode one. I definitely give the video a rating of five out of five. Unfortunately it is no longer available here in England. In the next issue - Classic Home And Away, a video of five special episodes!

TRIVIA ANSWER

Well, it seems that last issue's trivia was not as easy as I thought! The answer was that Ailsa killed her father. That's why her brother Tony came back to find her a few months ago. Correct answers came from BEX DOWNEY, ADRIAN MURPHY, WILLIAM McDONALD, ALAN SHADE, JEN TILL

MARK DIXON guessed it was her brother and RYAN WEBSTER guessed it was the fish!

TRIVIA QUESTION

Stephanie went over the cliff this week in England (and ITV did *not* cut it!). Who was the last person to go over a cliff in Home And Away? Be careful - two people fell off fighting but then someone else jumped off after them to find them!

BEX'S SPOILERS!

THE COMMUNE & IRENE'S BABY: Remember Saul, Joey Rainbow's dad? He is responsible for the kidnapping of Paul. Saul will die in a fire at the commune. He was so sick of living and all the troubles he was having because Joey had rebelled against him. Joey was telling all the people in the commune what Saul was really like. So he locked Joey, Casey and Liam in a shed at the commune. Meanwhile he had Sel in his room saying that if she stayed with him he would give Irene's baby back. But of course that was nothing but rubbish. So then he covered the commune in petrol and put a match to it. Then went back into the room with Sel. He told her that it was their destiny to die together. Meanwhile Irene, Jesse and Chloe were driving to the commune. They opened the shed before Joey and the others died. Then Joey told Jesse where Sel was and he went into the burning building to find her. Saul wouldn't let her go when Jesse grabbed her. Then Joey ran in with a wet blanket over his head. He freed Sel by stepping on Saul's hands. Then Sel and Jesse ran out much to Irene's happiness. Then Joey pleeded for Saul to come out. He wouldn't and then Joey saw him collapse onto a bed of flames. Irene's baby had been taken out by two of the girls from the commune and they took it away. The two girls wouldn't give it to Joey. They left Summer Bay after that. I think that eventually the police will find the baby.

MARILYN: Maralyn is desperate to have a baby with Don Fisher, but he wasn't too keen. She wants to have a baby girl as her favourite colour is pink. She had tests the other day as she thought she was pregnant. Now Donald wants to know why she is so sad and so he says that he is happy to have a baby. But then Maz tells Irene that she will never have babies because she can't.

JO & TOADIE FROM NEIGHBOURS: Rumours are flying around that both of these characters will be joining the Home and Away cast!

SALLY & HER NEW BOYFRIEND: Sally is finally going to get herself a boyfriend, Tim O'Connel. There is, however something a little odd about him. Dead bodies start turning up in Summer Bay (Ailsa finds the first in the park). Shannon of course starts investigating the mystery and suspects Tim, but Sally will not believe it and ends up covering for him so she doesn't lose him. I have been informed that he isn't responsible though, something about "protecting his family". Now I think he has left the show. I think it was a very quick role. The dead bodies where his Uncle and cousin. He & his father brought them in illegally one stormy night and they went into the drink (SEA).

LIAM: Liam's mother (Frances) will turn up in Summer Bay. She will want him to leave with her, and of course he will not want to. He says he wants to live with his father when he gets out of prison. Well, he hadn't had a call or letter from her in years!

TRAVIS & REBECCA: After Kelly leaves Summer Bay for a job in the city, Rebecca has her sights on Travis. He however is sill pining for Kelly. Time will tell! Curtis, Shannon & Selina are soon to leave Summer bay too!

NEW CHARACTER: AARON: He doesn't have a good beginning. He causes lots of trouble by stealing Alf's lunch. Of course Alf makes it his mission to save this kid, and makes him an "interesting proposition". Aaron is working for Alf in the bait shop. He just got bashed one night while he was sleeping in the bait shop.

TIEGAN TO RETURN! Lovable dyslexic Tiegan is to return to Summer Bay (I don't know how long for), hoping to stay with Pippa as her foster mother dies.

CURTIS: On the show he left on a surfing trip so he might come back after heis finished his surfing.

JESSE & ALF: They start up a new business together, the "Boat House".

JESSE: At one point, Saul puts a car in neutral and watches it roll downhill towrds Jesse. It knocks him over and Chloe has to revive him with mouth to mouth! Yes Sel and Jesse are back together. Jesse is now living with Travis and Lockie.

PIPPA: Pippa eventually recovers, but not before she's become an amnesiac and forgotten everyone, and thinks Michael is still alive, etc. When she gets home she is still out of character and moody, but all ends well.

BERT & ISOBEL: They are going to act like a couple of teenagers in love, until Isobel pops her clogs.

LISA / LAURA / JENNA: Her secret is that she has an abusive husband. Curtis has to protect her, but it is spiteful Casey who tells this man where Lisa is staying.

STEPHANIE: Liam feels very guilty about Stephanie's death. Travis is overwhelmed with grief, and initially Liam refuses to go to the funeral.

THAT'S ALL!
