dncllpyk Posted September 7, 2005 Report Share Posted September 7, 2005 Chapter 3 Matilda returned home at about lunch time Scott was there when she entered the house “Hey Scott†she said “Hi Matilda†said Scott he was making himself some lunch “I’m making a salad sandwich†said Scott “want one?†. “Sure†said Matilda she was now starving Scott made two sandwiches then he sat down at the kitchen table with Matilda and they begun eating their sandwiches “So how was work?†asked Matilda “Okay†said Scott “What have you done this morning? Asked Scott “Just been out†said Matilda “Alright Kiddo whats wrong?†asked Scott “Nothing†said Matilda “Yeah right†said Scott “You’ve hardly touched you sandwich Matilda picked up her sandwich and took a bite “There†she said “Happy?†“Mattie you haven't been yourself in days†said Scott “Yeah so what?†said Matilda “So whats bothering you?†said Scott “All right†said Matilda “I will tell you if you promise not to tell anyone else†“Okay†said Scott “Have you ever been in love with someone you shouldn’t?†asked Matilda “Mattie don’t tell me you’re in love with Kim again!†said Scott “No it’s not Kim†said Matilda “Then who is it?†asked Scott Matilda took a deep breath “Ric†she said “As in Ric Dalby?†asked Scott “How many Rics do we know?†asked Matilda “One†said Scott “Then yes it is Ric Dalby†said Matilda “I thought you were over him†said Scott “I thought I was too†said Matilda “But when I went missing I realised how much he meant to me†“So why do you think you shouldn’t be in love with him?†asked Scott “Because his ex is one of my best friends†said Matilda “Well I’m not one to ask for relationship advice†said Scott “after my stuffed up romances with Dani and Hayley†“I guess our family just isn’t lucky in love†said Matilda “Yeah†said Scott “I know exactly what you mean well except Rob of course†“Yeah†said Matilda “Robbie is so lucky he found Tasha†“You’re only fifteen kiddo you have heaps of time to find someone†said Scott “Scott stop calling me kiddo†said Matilda “Right sorry sis†said Scott “Don’t call me that either†said Matilda “Ok sorry Mattie†“You know when I first had feelings for Ric I thought that we were going to be like Kirsty and Kane because of the whole Henry thing†“But Ric and Henry are friends now†said Scott “I know†said Matilda “whats the point we’re never going to be together he loves Cassie not me and I just have to accept that†Ric had been home for half an hour when Sally walked in “Hi Ric†she said “Hey Sal†said Ric “I brought some rolls and salad for lunch†said Sally “Have you had lunch yet?†asked Sally “No†said Ric “I will make you a salad roll†said Sally “Oh and Cassie is staying at Katie’s until tomorrow†“Okay “said Ric “Yes please I’d like a roll†Pippa started to squirm and grizzle in Sally’s arms “Want me to take her†said Ric “Oh would you?†said Sally “She's been grizzly all the way home she had lunch already and she's overdue for a nap†Ric took Pippa upstairs to her room and put her in her cot she fell asleep straight away†He came downstairs and Sally was making lunch he sat down at the kitchen table when Sally was done she handed him a sandwich. “So how was your morning?†asked Sally “Fine†said Ric “Do anything interesting?†asked Sally “Well I went to the beach and run in to Matilda down there then we went and had a drink at the Diner. “Wow sounds like fun†said Sally “It was sad†said Ric with a twinkle in his eye Sally saw the twinkle “You seem happy about that†said Sally “Oh yeah†said Ric “You’ve hardly touched you lunch don’t you like my rolls?†exclaimed Sally Ric picked it up and took a bite “It tastes great Sal†he said “What's on your mind?†asked Sally “What makes you think there's something on my mind?†said Ric “You seem distracted†said Sally “Its nothing†said Ric “I bet this nothing has something to do with a certain someone her name wouldn’t have to be Matilda by any chance?†“How did you know†said Ric “Well the way you were smiling before when you were talking about her is a dead giveaway†said Sally “Oh†said Ric “Ric does Matilda know about your feelings for her?†said Sally “No and that’s the way I’d like to keep it†said Ric “Its all so complicated†“Well whoever said love was easy was wrong†said Sally “There's Cassie to consider†said Ric “She is Matilda’s best friend after all†“Well yes†said Sally “When she went missing I was so worried about her at first I thought it was a brotherly kind of thing†said Ric “But I soon realised it was something more†“But you were with Cassie then†said Sally “I know†said Ric “I convinced myself that Cassie was the one I wanted to be with†“How do you feel about Cassie?†asked Sally “I love her†said Ric “Just not in the same way I love Matilda†“Well I hope it works out for you one day†said Sally “I doubt it†said Ric “She just sees me as a friend and I’m just going to have accept that†Next Chapter Matilda and Ric are paired for an assignment at school Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
