Love, fury and Davis Cup victory

By SARAH GRANT

MOST grooms get a little nervous in the days prior to their wedding, but if you're Lleyton Hewitt you get angry.

The tennis ace appeared to suffer a pre-marital meltdown when he went head to head with Argentinian Guillermo Coria in the Davis Cup tennis quarter-final yesterday.

As sweetheart Bec Cartwright watched from the stands, there was no love lost between Hewitt and Coria, who exchanged insults with as much venom as they traded ground strokes.

Tension rose as the game went on, with both players making rude gestures at each other.

While the capacity crowd were riveted, Cartwright – seated between Hewitt's mum Cherilyn and sister Jaslyn – appeared nervous.

Only when Hewitt regained composure and sealed his victory did she appear to relax. The constant media scrutiny in the days before his wedding may have got to the tennis champ.
