2020 Season - UK Episode Discussion

Yes, we saw Bella visit Colby in his cell on Tuesday and yes, he was just as unpleasant to her initially as D.B. said (although, for the sake of fairness, he did calm down a bit later). Angelo used the correct terminology with Colby, I think: He wasn't being brought in for questioning, he was being charged. That moves him beyond suspect towards alleged perpetrator.(A suspect is someone they think might have done it.He's now the person they think did it.)

Alf's episode count this week:Five!

The Paratas seemed to agree that Ryder did them a favour calling the police (and they said it in private conversation, so they weren't just being nice to him) although they may have changed their mind by the end. They don't seem to hold it against him though, so hopefully that's also true of Bella (who has bigger concerns at the moment anyway). It's a good job that car wasn't really trying to hit Nikau because his survival instinct was terrible: A row of bollards a couple of paces to the left, and he just keeps running in other space? So, siege situation for the Paratas, it seems.John did seem genuinely worried, much to their surprise.

Roo and Owen talk but don't really cover much.At least he got an apology of sorts from Alf.And Ryder made a good, if somewhat bemused, sounding board.

Not much going on with Justin in plot terms but boy, did he sound in pain.I've got a worrying feeling this means the tumour isn't shrinking...

Alf did make the offer to move to Merimbula but Martha didn't feel it was necessary. So I guess they're paying two lots of council tax! (Assuming Australia has that or a close equivalent...)

I actually quite like the resolution they came up with.  So simple.  Just stay the way they are and drift between the two places together.  Neither of them had to sell up and they get to enjoy both places.

It never actually occurred to me that it was as simple as not doing anything.

The car would have predictably off-roaded and chased Nikau down in another scenario, he legs it, trips, Gang give him a kicking. Tane is frothing at the mouth, draws a piece, Ari stops him from "doing something stupid" and does the whole "You're gonna have to shoot me first, brah" practically daring him to.

(LBR, Not a million miles of what was probably on the writing table)

It's easy for us to say Nik didn't do the right thing  but who knows how anyone would behave if in Nik's position, you  are acting on instinct.

You used the words yourself Red 'alleged' and 'think' as there is no proof Colby did it, he hadn't confessed so I think it should still be suspicion. It's all in the legal terminology.

Ryder did do them a favour in his own clumsy way. The brick, or whatever it was, through the window proves they want the Parata's on edge.

Bella, Dean and Willow are in the city rustling up a lawyer for Colby where is Morag when you need her?

I said ages ago when Roo first meet Owen she may be transferring her feelings for Evan onto Owen not helped by the fact he is his identical twin not just his brother and it seems to me that is the case.  I know she said to Owen nothing physical happened between her and Evan but it didn't have to.  Although Owen didn't really disclose much to Ryder his advice was still helpful.

I was glad Justin accepted John's help, he has kind of, been there himself and he was great sticking around with Leah until Justin felt more himself.  His condition seemed to go downhill pretty quickly though, was nothing picked up when he had his treatment?  He had to admit defeat in the end and agree to Leah calling an ambulance. More than just back spasms.  Going by the look on Christian's face he didn't have good news.

The police might not have seen Colby committing the murder on television like we did, but Angelo gathered together enough proof to convince his superior he'd got the right man and to get a crown prosecutor to lead the case.Yes, technically Colby's "innocent until proven guilty" but he's in custody awaiting trial, so it's definitely more than "suspicion".And yes, Mackenzie being the only one in the house not to know didn't last that long as Ziggy suddenly gets verbal diarrhoea.

I am liking the bond between Ari and Tane: You'd have expected this to have them at each other's throat but Ari knows the important thing is to get them all out of this mess and he's willing to share the risk with Tane to do it (I was expecting him to put the chop on the deal when he interrupted Tane's meeting with Paul and Leon). And maybe, just maybe, Tane has finally realised where Ari's been coming from this last year and that this dodgy money isn't worth it.Ziggy shouldn't blame herself though, Tane landed her in the middle of this and she did her best to get out of it.

Justin's situation wasn't quite as bad as I predicted but he still needs to go under the knife sooner rather than later. His conditions aren't exactly unexpected and Leah and Christian don't have any choice but to go along with them, but I can't see Tori being too happy.

John and Ryder's little plot was fun and actually quite sweet.John owns his own house? First time we've had direct confirmation that it isn't rented anymore, I think.

I sort of doubt that and I sort of dont want that to be the case.

Firstly, if a failed bank robbery that cost him a brother couldnt make him drop crime, I doubt a job gone wrong is gonna do the trick. From what I know about the family, everything their dealing with now isnt anything they havent either dealt with before or expected to deal with. Also, if he does change after this, it might only be in terms of how frequently he resorts to dodgy means. From what I recall (and what I recall him stating) he took this job to appease his ego more or less. If its another case of not being able to pay rent, I doubt he'll refute.

Secondly, I sort of dont wwant him to change like that for the same reason I prefer this show and Shortland street over shows like Neighbours. I like characters that have enough of an edge to them that they can have storylines that arent just overdramatized love stories and petty squabbles. I like characters that go their own way and arent likely to get pressured into being something else.

Maybe he jacked prices at Gelato for the last couple Summers to achieve that

There's Edgy and There's Edgy for the Sake of it, which H&A has been for a number of years, tbf. When real Danger creeps in on Neighbours it's a bit more shocking, If I'm to be honest.

Avoiding the whole 'is he, isn't he' argument which the courts have yet to decide one way or the other, despite everyone's best efforts Mac now knows the 'secret'.  Btw plenty of innocent people have been banged up for crimes they didn't commit despite the police having 'proof'.  It seemed to me Ziggy was getting annoyed with Mac banging on about the Ari and Tane mess which as yet hasn't involved anyone dying  which was why she blurted it out.  Didn't take it too well did she - seeing the way she wallops Dean in the trailer. ?

Like you say Red Ziggy has nothing to blame herself for, she like Tane just thought they were transporting hot goods. It did start off as Tane wanting to see if he still had 'it' after being out of the scene for a while but escalated into something way above his capabilities. Certainly a turn around for Ari considering how he was with Tane when he first fetched up, but when push comes to real shove families do stick together as they do in all soaps. As we all know the Braxtons could fight amongst themselves but when someone threatened them they closed ranks.   Ok do we believe  Paul's assurance there are no drugs involved? If not drugs, guns maybe?

Justin now knows the harsh facts, Christian didn't mince his words and Justin wouldn't want him to.  Apart from chaining Justin to the bed nothing Christian can do to keep him in hospital unless he collapsed in absolute agony and had to be sedated.  I think we can safely predict Tori having another go at Christian at some point but without Justin's OK Christian can't tell Tori anything, good old doctor/patient confidentially.  With her  doctor  head on Tori knows and understands this but as Justin's sister she doesn't.  Although he could be seen as down right pig headed can understand why Justin wants to be there for Grace's 1st Birthday Leah will be there as back up - sorry no pun intended.   Robbo would have loved it.

Just what we needed that bit of light relief provided by John and Ryder.  I have to say the name of that dating site - Smoulder - did sound like a porn site to me.  I can imagine all the members being bronzed and beautiful guys as well as gals.  Perfect hair, teeth, bodies and completely  shallow.  The one Ryder suggested - Silver Dream(?) - sounded a lot more up John's street. Very discreet remark by Ryder about it being for the 45's +.  ?  No need yet to mention John's recent stroke on the part that asked about his health. Had to  laugh at his posing on the beach for his profile picture.?  I think John is quite a good looking older man.   Don't forget Red John is also a property developer - yeh right - does Ryder know about his record as a DIYer?
