Ron Haddrick (Gordon Macklin) passes away

Recommended Posts

The great Ron Haddrick, who played the recurring character of Gordon Macklin in the show's early years, passed away yesterday at 90.

I loved him as Gordon, but he had so many other iconic roles too

RIP

Looking at IMDb, I see he also played Peter Moss in 1996. I had no idea he was still working until fairly recently, definitely a pro.

Was Peter Moss the guy who thought Sally was his daughter?

Yes, that's the one. It's one of those storylines which sounds absolutely absurd on paper but was actually quite affecting, mainly because everyone involved took it seriously: That last scene of Sally sitting with him as he dies has me welling up thinking about it.

His son is Greg Haddrick who used to write for H&A. I never made the connection between the pair, despite the unusual surname.
