I just don't understand if they knew the cricket was on right from the get go why didn't they officially put the start back date as Feb 18th from the beginning instead of all this to torture? Homeandawayfan. Posted January 19, 2019 Report Posted January 19, 2019 This will be the longest time in the shows history that it has been off air. 14 December to 18 February. 2 months. Due to H&A's longer Xmas breaks, the gap between then episode numbers of Neighbours and H&A is widening. H&A is still stuck at 7040 whereas Neighbours is now about 8020 and will soon be 1000 episodes ahead of H&A. Neighbours is an all year round soap now whereas H&A still has its breaks so the episode number gap will keep getting wider.

This stupid Christmas break is another reason why The Early Years was a blessing. The only short breaks, longest was probably two or three weeks (due to sporting events, such as Tennis or The Olympics), this used to give us our Summer Bay fix and tide us over the Christmas holidays. And they took that away from us too!
