Things are most definitely as they should be at the end there... No nasty Kat and Ash getting their grubby mitts on VJ's little girl. Him having to hand her over just broke my heart! And you've cleared a few other things up for me too! Kat's actually making an active effort to be the worst most useless cop on the face of the planet? Well, that makes a lot more sense!
