christine king Posted July 19, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 19, 2015 Chapter 12Clare's HouseClare: come on dad I want to go back to schol today?John: you promised you would get betterClare: I just got back from the retreatJohn: yeah but you have to go to conciling and AA meetingsClare: I can't just miss school for no reasonJohn: I rang the school and told them you were sick Clare: what about my friends?John: just tell your friends your sick, it'll only be for a couple more days anywayClare: dad I don't want to lie anymoreJohn: its not lying, I am protecting youClare: don't you trust me?John: theres too much temptation at school right nowClare: dadJohn: no I am negioating on this, so stop arguring with meClare: fineThe SchoolSpencer, Maddy, Josh, Oscar, Evelyn, Matt are all in english class, they are all sitting together at a round table, they are copying infomation off the boardMaddy: hey have you guys heard from Clare?Spencer: I go text from her saying she is sickEvelyn: what is she sick with?Spencer: didn't say?Oscar: I hope shes okMatt: maybe someone should check on her?Josh: I have a free perid before lunch, I can do itMaddy: are you sure?Spencer: I can go after lunch, I don't have a class onEvelyn: well one of you can go, I've got classes on all dayOscar: me too, I don't have any spareMaddy: I don't either, so whos going to go?Josh: I willSpencer: no I canJosh: fine, we can both goSpencer: if thats what you wantJosh: its clearly what you wantEvelyn: guys shut up, the teachers comingClare's HouseClare goes to answer the door when it rings and is surprised to see Josh there and she drags him inside to their family roomClare: what are you doing here?Josh: checking on youClare: well I'm fine, you can go nowJosh: not until we talkClare: I told you I'm not telling you my secrectJosh: you don't have too, I already knowClare: what? how?Josh: Spencer told me he saw you with DrakeClare: he did what?Josh: I put the pieces together and so did my brotherClare: wait Andy knows I took the money?Josh: yes but don't worry I covered for youClare: thankyou but why would you do that?Josh: because I wanted the whole storyClare: I don't owe you thatJosh: oh but you doClare: no I don'tJosh: I can tell Andy everythingClare: but you already liedJosh: I can just tell the truth this timeClare: I can't tell youJosh: come on, how hard can it be?Clare: its complicatedJosh: yeah and I'm giving you this one chance, so please take itClare: you still have to promise, no one else can knowJosh: fineClare: so it started 2 years ago when I was in Brisbane, I got involed in a bad crowd, my dad tried to stop me but he couldn't control me, I started failing in my studies and I needed a enegry boost to get my grades back up, there was this guy, I thought he was a good guy, he gave me some study pills and I took them, they worked, my grades got back up again and I realised I didn't need them anymore, until one of my friends died from taking them too, I was messed up and started getting into heaps of trouble, I started drinking alot and going to parties, I thought I was ok, I was feeling heaps better and my friends were looking out for me too but one night everything went wrong, my drink got spiked and I ended up in hosptial, they said it was an overdose but I don't remember what happened that night and to this day I still don't but my dad he was so angry, he took me out of school and we moved to Melborune, but after everything that happened I coudn't contrentate on my school work, my gardes slipped even further than before and I knew only one way to get them back up again, I found another suppiler at my new school, I took them again and I started getting my grades up again, I was getting A's and B's on every test or assinment I did, Dad was so happy I was doing well that I couldn't disapoint him again, I didn't stop this time, I kept taking them and my grades were constient though out the rest of the yearThere was a knock at the doorJohn: Clare open the doorClare goes to open the doorJohn: hey, I got your favorite for dinnerClare: thats great dadJohn and Clare walk back into the family room and is surprised to see Josh thereJohn: who are you?Josh: I'm JoshClare: hes a friend from schoolJohn: does he know?Clare: some of itJohn: ok this ends now, your leavingJosh: I'll see you laterJosh leavesJohn: I thought you promised not to tell anyoneClare: I had too, he covered for meJohn: what?
