Well it's not been that long since Harley has been born. Jess probably wants Heath to feel at ease with him, and form a bond first. It's only Heath first trip down to Melbourne. I imagine telling someone that you have cancer would take time. Untill you fully trust that person and even then it's hard. Jess just wanted to get to know Heath a bit better and see how he would be with Harley before telling him I think. Unless no one contests the rights to having custody of Harley after Jess inevitably passes away due to her illness, naturally I would assume that Heath would have custody of Harley but if Jess' parents want custody of Harley for example then Heath's chances could be dealt a blow due to the fact that he has a criminal record to start off with, but he's nevertheless changed substantially since his younger days of being wild.
